Slow Growing Hair Help Empty Slow Growing Hair Help

Post by JORIE 28th October 2009, 9:59 pm

Hello ladies. I need some help. Normal hair growth is about a half inch per month. Mine only grows a quarter inch per month. I take vitamins (including one with MSM in it) and silica. I do not see a difference at all. Right now I have a TWA and would love to have a cute curly bob by May or June. Any suggestions as to what I can use to grow my hair super fast, super long??? Thanks curlies. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I use Morroco Method hair oil, and I infuse it with rosmary and sage essential oils, and some emu oil, but even just emu oil by itself will help. This is what works for me, oh and Bio-fen shampoo its made for hair growth!

I haven't used it consistently enough to know for sure but a lot of people swear by Boundless Tresses Growth Serum.

Also make sure you protect your ends. Moisturize them and make sure you protect them at night with either a satin bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase. The growth that you do get will retain as long as you protect your hair.

Things I've read:

1. scalp massages
2. hang off the bed with head toward floor--increases blood flow to scalp. Don't know if I'd advise this one! be careful Smile
3. visualization (visualize yourself with long hair, and experience the happiness and joy of reaching your dream length)
4. eat more protein
5. eat more fruits and veggies
6. take your vitamins (I'm feeling Green Vibrance)
7. Do your cardio (increases blood flow to scalp)
8. drink more water

I'd say a well balanced diet, great supplements, regular exercise, and scalp massages would be the way to go Smile

oh, and lots of patience, and styles that prevent breakage, knots, and excessive manipulation.

I definitely need some tips on growing my hair! My hair grows pretty slow, or at least it seems like it...LOL! I really woulld like to see more length so that when I do wear it curly, it will have long lengthy curls! Do you guys suggest any good hair vitamins??? I was taking the ultra-mega hair vitamins from GNC...my nails grew a whoooole lot, but I didn't see as much growth in my hair! What do you guys suggest?

Post by cutephantasm 2nd November 2009, 2:54 am

on growafrohairlong.com it says washing daily helps hair grow faster...im assuming that just since the scalp is being stimulated not necc. because of the washing process...

have any of you tried this and seen results? I cowash at least 2-3x a week and my hair grows pretty quickly

Slow Growing Hair Help Empty Re: Slow Growing Hair Help

Post by krenea 2nd November 2009, 3:03 am

I think there may be something to daily washing, but everyone can't do that. I currently have a twa, so I'm enjoying daily cowashes while they last! I know that when I get more length, my 3 min detangling sessions will be history! Anyway, my hair has grown from 'unpinchable' to 3 inches since 8/8/09, a little bit shy of 3 months. Maybe it's because of the daily massages, the peppermint in my EO conditioner, the Wild Growth hair oil I use, the daily 1.5 hour walks, lots of water...Probably a combo. I hope it continues. I'm also taking Trader Joe's Prenatal Vitamins. I'd say do all of the things that CurlyNikki suggested and see what happens! The more you do, the more chances you'll have of growing fast hair! alien

is it uncommon to almost never get tangles?

I hear about all the tangles and stuff that happen with our kind of hair but I have no problems as long as i condition well I detangle pretty easy....my hair is shoulder length when wet, bra strap length when stretched

I would guess that with type 3 hair, you wouldn't experience much tangling, but my daughter has type 3a-b hair and hers gets a mess of tangles!

Ahh...Didn't realize that! Your lace front is/was fierce! I love your hair even better, though! You know, since I've been "studying" naturals for the past 4 or 5 months, I've noticed that curlies look sooo much better with curly hair than straight! It just brings out the features more and looks so incredible to me! We look like lionesses in a very powerful, good way! I love your hair, cutephantasm! GO GIRL!

Cutephantasm,

I just started transitioning (7 weeks) I have a curly sew in weave. What did you use to keep your hair healthy under your weave? I also have 4a or 4b hair.
