I heard that this also has protein in it, are any protein sensitive curls using this?

When you guys buy it from TJs or Marshalls how much is it? I may have to stick my head in and look for it, I love my Direct Leave In! I heard about it from a lady I met in passing at the mall one time.

I am going to try my own DC mixture... a got this one recipe that combines homey and olive oil but I may substitute the EVOO for Coconut Oil and see if I notice a difference. I'm looking for a homemade DC that I can use every other week.

Nyla I am going to Riteaid right now...I will let you know if it has protien. I know the smooth as silk does and I learned the hard way that I can not use it as a leave in..

I've been using the Giovanni for maybe a few weeks now. Love it. The only reason I got it b/c my KCKT wasn't at Whole Foods so I got the Giovanni instead. Love the smell as well. Its great.

Ladies this week the entire Giovanni line is on sale for $4.99 at Whole Foods. I'm in DC so I'm not sure if this is a regional only sale or not?

I was just in Whole Foods and it wasn't on sale in my store...man! I checked Riteaid and they didn't have the direct leave-in. Matter of fact they really didn't have much of a selection. I'm going to try another store tomorrow.

The leave in does have protein in it! But I think it's a very light one. Also using with coconut oil with the leave in helps keep the protein that the hair already has and could be causing the dryness after a couple of days. I realized that so I alternate with the coconut oil as a sealer and then olive and so on....But I absolutely love this leave in. Definitely my HG!

I've been using the Giovanni for about a month or so. It worked well for me - helped me detangle. But, my hair has been shrinking more with it and it seems a bit dryer. I purchased Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose tonight and will give it a whirl this week.

Someone may end up with it at the Dallas Curlies meet-up next Saturday if it doesn't work. lol

Jonesskm, do you by chance live in CA? I'm noticing that some of the sales aren't nationwide. But thanks for the heads up!

GIOVANNI DIRECT LEAVE-IN - Page 2 Empty Re: GIOVANNI DIRECT LEAVE-IN

Post by MsVera 13th April 2010, 11:23 pm

I just bought the Direct Leave-in Weightless Moisture plus the 50:50 Clarifying Shampoo in the buy one get 50% off sale at drugstore.com.
I also bought the EfaGold EVCO (on sale too) and used the Direct Leave-in followed by the Coconut Oil after clarifying with the 50:50. When I took my flat-twists down the following day (yesterday) my hair (although having good definition) felt really dry!
Last night I applied a little more Direct Leave-in and a little more Coconut Oil, but by this a.m it was feeling drier than when I started!! This morning, I co-washed with HE Totally Twisted and spritzed with the Aussie Moist. Then as I normally do once it was about 50-60% air dried, I applied my unrefined Shea Butter and it finally is re-moisturized and happy again!!
Aloe Vera is a protein and have heard through some sources that coconut oil is also a protein? If so, perhaps it is too much protein for my hair? The Direct Leave-in does also contains soybean oil which is another protein.
Does anyone have any sources regarding coconut oil as a protein? Maybe I should only be using one of these products at a time?
Does anyone know of any good sources regarding coconut oil as a protein or not?

Thanks,

Vera

Mommy,
I was thinking of using it for w'n'gs. Do you use the Direct Leave-in with something else for your w'n'gs?
