Moisturizing from the inside out

I really think I might have 5 different hair types.
My edges are dry, a lighter color, and curly but hte curls go in all different directions. they are not defined....UNTIL I add some water or ecostyler, then they all come together like a church choir......
The top of my head is silky and wavy and quite moisturized with NO HELP at all.
The back sides behind my ears are tiny tiny tiny COILS.
My "kitchen" is dry and thick and coarse.
Im exhausted just typing this.....I cant "define" the other types that my hair is......

I want to know if anyone knows of any ways to get my edges on the sides and front to be more moistureized on their own WITHOUT adding product all the derned time.
8 cups of water a day, vitamins, etc. Any other ideas/

What kinds of things are you putting on the "outside" of your hair? Are you sleeping with your hair in a satin bonnet or a silk pillowcase?
