Aloe Vera in Spritz
Does anyone make a spritz with Aloe vera juice? I have a large bottle that I use to make my Kimmaytube mix and I'm thinking of making a daily spritz for my TWA with it. I'm scared to add glycerin because it's getting cold and the humidity is low.
I saw one Youtube video where essential oils are added as well. I also would like to "trick" by 14 year old into it. He's growing out his fro and it get so dry. I finally convinced him to use jojoba oil instead of the grease his grandmother bought him and he sprays some water on his hair before he picks now but I'd love to get him to use something more moisturizing and I thought a spray bottle with the juice and water may be good. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance curly ladies!

I have an aloe vera spritz I used on my scalp. It contains water, aloe vera gel (the dietary kind), tea tree oil, peppermint oil and rosemary oil.

I do Robin. I love it too. It's the Holy Grail for me. Aloe Vera Juice, glycerin and a little water and some rosemary oil as a preservative. I'm so glad Chrluvsbks suggested it to me. It keeps my hair so moisturized. I'm in love. I'm in Atlanta. It'll be warm through the end of October, so I'll be using it for my wash n go's. I plan to put Kinky Twist in for the winter during the cold months so I don't know that I'll be using it then. We'll see.

Yepper, I have used different ratios. The main components are below.
Water (or strong tea--tea made with ratio of two parts tea to one part water)
EVOO
Aloe Vera Juice
Glycerin
EOs (tea tree, lavender, rosemary & rosehip)

BTW, I test it on my skin in order to see if the formula is right. Skin should feel soft and not be oily to the touch after a minute or two. I think it would make a great body spray in the fall and winter when there is less moisture in the air in some areas of the world.

I use aloe vera juice in my spritz too. I love it but I'll stop putting the glycerin in it as it gets colder here. I'm gonna try some of the recipes I see listed here.

Thanks Ladies, because I surely do have a huge bottle of Aloe Vera Juice that I bought to make Kimmaytube's leave-in, which made my hair really soft, but didn't mix well with my curling creme. I will definitely try it in my water/glycerin mix!

I also use aloe vera juice in my spray bottle:
- water
- aloe vera juice
- Yes to Cucumbers
- EVOO
- a tiny bit of honey
It's basically a watery kimmaytube mix (I substituted glycerin for honey as a humectant because I ran out of glycerin)

Thanks so much for the ideas ladies!!! I'm gonna try them. A few questions - does the honey melt properly?
Also, where do you all get your essential oils from? I saw some at Whole Food but they were a bit pricey. $6 for a very tiny bottle of peppermint oil. I'd like to buy that, some tea tree oil and maybe some lavender oil.

Robin,
The essential oils can be pricey. I only have one. I have rosemary and I think I paid $6.99 for a pretty small bottle. Not as small as those tiny ones at Whole Foods. I got mine from GNC. They're also cheaper at The Vitamin Shoppe if you have one of those near you. I haven't seen Lavender for less than $9.99 so I've been passing on it. I do want peppermint, so I'll include that in my next haul. Next month.

We do have a vitamin shoppe. I was there last week and the prices were interesting. The Castor Oil was cheaper than WF but the Jojoba oil was like $5 more at the Vitamin Shoppe!!!! I'll go back tomorrow and look for the oils. Thanks!
Re: Aloe Vera in Spritz
I purchased Jojoba last week. It was a pretty good size bottle and it was $9.99, but they were having a sale - buy one Vitamin shoppe brand get one 50% off, so I got more coconut oil, it was $8.99. I felt better about the package deal, but the truth is I'm just buying stuff because I didn't need either one. I guess I could have sprung for the lavender oil.

I usually get mine form whole foods, but i STALK them to see when they're on sale LOL! I bought lavendar, cedarwood, lemongrass, and several other ones that escape my mind right now, all on sale
Re: Aloe Vera in Spritz
Hello ladies. I see a lot of these mixes still have some type of humectant in them. Can they be used w/o adding the humectants and still keep the hair moisturized? Like CurlyChefRobin's son, my 8 yo is trying to grow out his fro. TIA

I LOVE your curls. I think the back of mine will look something like yours once it grows longer. I have a mix of 4a/4b in the back.
Re: Aloe Vera in Spritz
Yes, aloe vera is moisturizing on its own. I have read a couple of blogs that discuss the chemical properties of it. You can take out the honey, glycerin, etc.Alanija wrote:Hello ladies.
