Aloe Vera Gel

I purchased a bottle of Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gel (Inner Fillet) on Friday. After watching the now infamous Youtube "Aloe Gro" video, I expected to be able to pour it out of the bottle. However, the gel was congealed like jello [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . It dissolved fine once I added water but I will be exchanging that particular bottle tomorrow. Has anyone determined a benefit of inner leaflet versus whole leaf...since I have to repurchase, anyway.

I've never heard of an Aloe Vera gel that ever used the entire leaf anyways! The gel is the clear substance within the leaf. If they were grinding up the entire leaf you would have bits of tough green leaf/skin suspended in the gel.

Aha....just as I thought! Whole leaf Aloe is just a sellers gimmick....looky what I found:

I am late but I have the same brand. The inner fillet of the aloe plant is where are the nutrients are. It is the best part of the leaf. And it does have a gello consistancy. This brand is a excellent brand because it has the ph stablizer and mold inhibitor. So this is great for overnight deep conditions or spray bottles.

I've esed LOTD aloe gels for about 5 years. It's very congealed and that's what I like about it. It's the main ingredient in my homemade styling gel cuz of its thick consistency. LOTD also makes aloe vera juice, clear liquid. Maybe that will work for you...

Thanks for the info ladies! MsVera that was a great article. Other than being unsure of the consistencty, I was very happy with the results and it is definately a staple in my routine now. It worked great on my bantu knot-outs and seems like it would be great for wash and go's.

At 1st I had the fillet one and I didnt like it. Took too much for it to disolve.
