Hey everyone! How goes it?! I am just chilling here with my doggy and catching up on Glee! Anyone else a huge fan?! So excited it's back!
Here's a preview of next week's Madonna episode! Loves it!
Anywhoo today while I was browsing the internets I found the review of that Dr. Bronner's Shikakai Soap that I bought. Remember I said there was a reason I bought it but I couldn't find the blog. Well here it is. A glowing review of the soap. Can't wait to use it next week!

hey everyone! it's friday! w00t! and only 5 more days til my Harriet sees the light of day! OMG! I think I will go overboard with pictures because I've missed her so, lmao. I feel like also since my hair's been in twists my challenge posts have been boring! So sad. Oh wells, what can you do.
Ooh! I found a new fotki to stalk, I mean follow. http://public.fotki.com/NicoleMonique Very nice hair! I wonder if my hair will be stalk worthy one day? Lol. As it is I only have like 5 people who pay attention to my fotki hehehe. Anywhoo have a great weekend everyone!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey ladies! I'm sorry I didn't post all week. I kinda forgot with my being busy and everything. Anywhoo I took out the twists like on Sunday, before my challenge technically ended. Only because I wouldn't have time during the week. Ok and I was anxious but whatever! I did it with like 3 days left so hmph. I have tons of pics in my fotki.
I washed my hair and this is the length:
Then I did my henna/indigo treatment, deep conditioned, and put in chunky twists:
On Tuesday I took the twists out and went to a Red Sox game and was left with this:
I got sooo many compliments! Yay!
Today I'm going to wash and twist for a twistout tonight (going to dinner with Twitter friends, yay) and then this weekend I'll go back into protective twists on my natural hair for a week and then twist out on the weekends! That's it.
I think my hair held up pretty well in the kinky twists but I won't do them again for a while because I don't know if it's paranoia or it is true but I feel like I have breakage and my twists used to look better. Oh wells.
Hope everyone had a great week!

Thanks ladies! I can't believe in 3 months it'll be a year! Craziness!
Anywhoo I am in a bunch of twist challenges.. I believe 3 lol. So I'm back to my protective styling routine which is twists for M-F and twistouts on Sat. Sunday is my wash/condition day and then do it all again. So here are the twists I did for this week:
I did these twists on dry hair after washing with my Dr. Bronner's Shikakai soap, conditioning with HE Totally Twisted, deep conditioning with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, then I used the HETT as a leave in. Let my hair dry in fat twists and then did these smaller twists. The actual twisting part only took 3 hrs which I'm very happy with. And I think it's official that HETT has given Hello Hydration the boot as my Herbal Essence holy grail conditioner. I also love Aussie Moist of course but I think from now I will only use Aussie and HETT. At least until I go through my 2 bottles of Hello Hydration hahaha...
What are your holy grail conditioners?

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Thanks ladies! So my hair is still twisted up. I haven't had to leave the house for the past two days so I just keep it baggied.
I have started using a new spritz. Well it's basically my old spritz with a new ingredient. My basic spritz has always been 3/4 aloe vera gel, 1/4 water and 10-20 drops of peppermint oil. Well I've been reading up and catnip is said to promote hair growth and help prevent split ends. And lo and behold I have organic catnip just lying around the house. So I made tea with it and replaced the water with that. So we shall see if there's any difference.
My twists shrunk up of course! I was messing around earlier today and took some pics lol.
I've been slacking on taking my vitamins. Anyone else struggle with that. I hate swallowing pills! Yuck!

Your hair is really growing. Looking good!
I struggle with taking my multivitamin. I do good for about 2 weeks then I fall of the wagon. It's weird because I take my BC every day.

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hi ladies! How goes it?! So yesterday I was reading a post about how someone disliked AfroVeda's Shea Amla Butter because of the smell and I was like hmm I have some of that. So I took out my jar and remembered how much I liked it, well not so much the smell, but the moisturizing aspect! So I slapped some on my twists and they feel fabulous! Now I know what to put on mid week when the strands start feeling dry. Yay!
They're so juicy and revived now:
So if your twists are looking for a facelift try it! Hope everyone had a great day. I'm so tired from work all day. Later!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey everyone. So at the beginning of my natural hair journey I was really stuck on "defining" my curls and "elongating" them etc. I basically wanted my fro to look more like:
The more I learn the more I realize my hair probably won't ever look like that. I mean I've tried everything: Ecostyler, Afro Veda Pur Whipped Gelly, Darcy's Botanicals Curly Jelly, everything! And then I saw this video and for a split second I am considering trying the mineral oil laden, overpriced Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding:
Now I know ChiselleCouture has way more hair than I do and when hers dries it doesn't puff up into a fro but I swear when her hair is wet we have the same hair pattern. Bah! How come her hair does it and not miine. Uh oh.. I'm falling into the trap again.
I love Harriet and if she never curls and flows like other peoples hair I will still love her! She's fabulous. But sometimes I want her to change it up a lil. Oh wells. Does anyone get what I'm saying?! Another person who my hair definitely won't ever look like is kabrinam:
Ok now that I'm over my hair envy is there anyone whose hair you'd borrow for a day.. or two? lol.

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
hey silly nads!! i've watched harriet grow from the beginning of time, lol. she is growing beautifully. i understand you wanting to borrow someone elses hair from time to time but just know that i sometimes, secretly wish my hair was more kinky to achieve the chunky twist outs u and jnb achieve. I LOVE IT!!! the uniqueness of ur hair is the beauty of it all. Tracey Ross (and her mom) are my hair idols becuz even one day i want big, drag divaness of chaka khan hair too!
i used to think my twa was suppose to look like solange's but when i noticed my hair was more curlier everywhere but the top i was so focused on curl "definition", why did i obsess so much with it? its been 7 months and now im to the point i want to enjoy bein lazy n just let it be.
give the curly pudding a try, i know i will...the sample size anywayz becuz although it does have mineral oil, i like the results of the baby buttercreme. i cant keep it in more than 3-4 days but i love it. so let me know ur results!!
Love the fro hawk pic and u are looking good wit ur weight loss!!
smooches!!

aww! NubieNatty thank you so much! I'm on the verge of tears! That was such a nice thing to say! I really appreciate it! I do love Harriet and I am coming to terms with her thick, kinky fro-ness lol. Thank you so much! You're so sweet. I want to give you a cyber hug, lol.
Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Ugh. So upset at my computer right now! I had my post ready to send and the browser shut itself down! Argh!
Anywhoo, as I was saying: Happy Friday everyone! I have to write this at 1 in the morning because I'll be working for 12 hrs tomorrow and won't have time....
I have an itch. An itch to color my hair. I know what you're thinking and yes my hair is lovely due to my henna/indigo treatments however I want one big chunk of light brown in the front and well henna's not gonna do that.. I'm going to mull it over this weekend. Check back on Monday and see what I do!
I picked up a new item today. I got Aussie's Leave-In conditioner. It's a spray one. I don't have any spray conditioners so I figured why not try it? While I was picking it out my mom was berating me over the phone about how I spend too much money on hair products lol. I told her all the conditioner under my sink is for my roommate Evan... she didn't believe me, hahaha...
Check out this awesome hair.
I love my hairspiration album in my Fotki... It keeps me going when Harriet and I have a disagreement!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey XP!!! You and Harriet look awesome! You're taking great care of your mane and even though you're having curl envy your hair is beautiful Sometimes it's hard to completely accept your hair for everything it does and won't do. But just know that someone else is wishing they had your texture too (like Nubie. lol) it's the whole phenomena of "the grass is greener ..." but I'm glad you're loving on Harriet because she really looks good! And go head with your weight loss!!! You're so motivated and I love it
I can't wait to see what happens with the color! I'm contemplating color too because I would love a light brown or chestnut blonde fro

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hello ladies! How is everyone?! I'm doing fab thank you for asking, lolol.
Anywhoo so I experimented with color and let me tell you, my henna-ed strands wanted no part of it lol. The only parts of my hair that took in color were the roots. I was only going for chunks of color and not overall so it's not too bad looking. I realize my hair will not change without bleach or something excessive so that's the end of my foray into color. Next month I will henna/indigo as usual and be back to normal.
No, I didn't take any pics because it wasn't photo worthy lol. But trust me... Harriet is fine and I haven't caused her too much damage. I'm actually doing a deep treatment right now as I type.
Which leads me to my next point. I was perusing the internets and found this great article that I feel all naturals should read. It's about keeping your strands moisturized. Check it out at K is for Kinky.
Here's a recent pic of my wash n go on Saturday:
My hair was still wet in this pic. I was going to give up on wash n gos but someone told me to try KCCC and Knot Today before I do. So if that doesn't work wash n gos will be out of my repertoire!
K time to go rinse this out. Hope you're having a great Monday.

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hello my lovelies! So yesterday I found an amazing article on moisture retention for natural hair as you all know. I put it to work and other than the fact that I put WAY too much coconut oil in my hair (my hair is like an oil slick today ), it worked great! Here's my fluffed up twistout for today.
I had 2 interviews today and looked fabulous! One already has called back! w00t!
Now I know though that I only need a dab of oil on each section. I literally can't let anyone touch my hair right now cause their hand would be oozing with coconut oil haha. Oops!
So yeah, I'm having a fabulous week so far hehe. Only two days in but seriously. Oh and I bought like 4 new pairs of earrings. w00t! I'll show you all soon. I love me some big earrings!!
K time for dinner. Later chicas!

Hey ladies! So yesterday I worked a double. I'm still tired but I have to start getting ready for work today in like an hour! Boo! Anywhoo I wore a puff yesterday. I haven't found any time to twist my hair this week and I'm in 2 twist challenges! I won't have time until Saturday morning if I wake up... Hmph. Here's my hair from yesterday:
I think after next week and the madness of Mother's Day is over I'll get back into my normal routine. I hate when life takes over sometimes, lol.

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Thanks for sharing that article. I've actually being doing that for a long time. I apply my Giovanni Direct leave in and seal with coconut oil. I'm glad it worked for you. We've all traveled down that slick oil road (applying too much oil).
