Re: *xtremelyperfect*
hi ladies! thanks for the lovely comments! i appreciate the support! I tried a new look today. I did my first ever flat twist. This is the third and final result lol...
As you can see there's that one section that looks really weird. But after the third time I was just like whatever and left it as is, lol.
On Monday I plan to go back into twists and start taking these twist challenges more seriously! I HAVE to find time to twist my hair! If everyone else can, so can I!
Also I need to henna/indigo cause this weird hair color thing is not working for moi!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Thanks Lynnie! I was very proud of myself.. So I took the twist down tonight cause I'm thinking about doing a henna treatment before I go to bed and to my shock and awe:
Why didn't you guys tell me flat twistouts look so great?! Holy crap! If I can figure out how to flat twist my entire head and make it look pretty this is it. I can't believe it lol. I was like omg, my hair, there are spirals! They look natural! What's going on, lol. Anyway, I just had to share my elation with someone...
If I can get this left over henna to defrost in the next 20 mins I'll do it. But I'm exhausted! I work in a restaurant and it being Mother's Day, it was our busiest day ever. We had over 400 people eat brunch and dinner. I worked from 10.30 am til 10.30 pm literally without a break. We had about 10 mins that they gave us to pee and stuff pizza in our face after brunch ended before it was round 2 of reservations. Ugh. I even had a meltdown during that 10 mins and was outside sobbing hysterically because of course my body decided now would be a good time to come down with the flu.. Thank God I pulled it together... Anywhoo, I'm rambling. I just wanted to share my twistout with you lol...
Hope you all had a FABULOUS Mother's Day!!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey ladies! I was so over the icky color of my hair so last night I did a henna treatment followed by indigo this morning. I am super duper pleased with the results! Here are a couple pics I took.
The next pic you can't really tell the color but I was look at my hair in Jan as compared to now and look at the change. I didn't even notice til I looked at the pic. It looks twice the size lol:
January
wet hair
Now
slightly wet hair
Granted one shot is far away and the other is close up but I still think there's a big difference lol. Yay! Anywhoo I used Darcy Botanicals Curling Gel to get the results in the first couple of pics. I like it a lot. It's super duper light. It's almost translucent and very goopy though in the jar. My hair doesn't feel crunchy at all. Two thumbs up!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Did you dye your hair to get the reddish color it had or was that just henna?

The reddish color from the January pic? That was henna before I started using indigo.
Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey sweet! Thanks for stopping by!
So today I decided with my new found flat twisting skills it'd be fabulous to do my entire head in flat twists. That idea lasted a whopping 5 mins lol. After the first 5 twists I was like screw this. So I did 6 flat twists and the rest regular 2 strand twists lmao. Here are my results. I know I said I'd twist my hair for the week but this is actually for a twistout cause I'm going to the Sox game tonight and I'm going to be in amazing seats that might have me on tv so I gotta look extra fly, lol.
I'll take these out in another hour or two and see what happens. Crossing my fingers!

Oh wow! You got excellent henna results to have such dark hair. What kind of henna did you use? And did you add any color boosters in your mix?

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Here's my mix:
100 grams of Mashhoor henna
1/4 cup of ground coffee
2 cups of chamomile tea made with filtered water (no green tea in apt)
2 tbs of honey
3 squirts of lemon juice
2 tsp of ground ginger root(for smell)
I leave that on overnight. Then rinse it out without using any conditioners or anything. Then I apply my indigo which I just mix with water and two tsps of salt. I leave the indigo on for an hr and rinse that out. Then deep condition. And voila. HTH!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
I had an interview today! I think it went well. I took a bunch of cute pics before I left but my camera deleted them mysteriously so here are a couple of pics I took when I got back. I was all sweaty cause in true New England weather fashion it's like 80 today after it was like 40 yesterday lol. Anywhoo I was mostly pleased with my results lol.
It's not as defined as usual because my hair was only in twists for 2 hrs. My hair was actually still wet when I took the twists down but I was running late so I just said oh wells! Not bad though. I was just way too tired last night to do it so I twisted it this morning after my shower.
Hope you are all doing great! My 10 month nappiversary was 3 days ago. holy moly! lol. 2 more months til Harriet's a year old!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Thanks Lynnie! The rest of my family is doing ok. Things are still tough down there but they're staying strong. Thanks for asking.
Sorry I've not been checking in more regularly. My job has been working me to the bone and I'm currently looking for a new one so wish me luck.
I'm in a few twists challenges on various forums so here are my twists that I did on Friday!
This is from when I just did them:
and this is from today after about 5 days:
I've recently adopted Kimmaytube's suggestion of wetting my hair regular. So instead of wearing a shower cap I shower without one. I don't put my hair directly under the stream of water but the moisture from taking a shower gets on my hair anyway so it's damp but not sopping wet.
I also am using a new product as my moisturizing spray instead of the homemade mix I was using. I'm now using SCurl Activator Moisturizer per the suggestion of chicks on another hair care forum. The main ingredient in this is glycerin and it's supposed to help retain length.
We'll see! I'm only about an inch away from SL! I hope I can get there by my one yr nappiversary! I wanna do it! Lol. That would be awesome!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Hey everyone! So I took the twists out today, a week after I put them in. They started to loc. I think it's cause I wet them everyday. Oh wells. I'll put them back in on Monday! Tonight I did a lot with my hair. I did a bentonite treatment, a protein treatment, washed with a new shampoo bar, and conditioned. My hair is doing awesome though! I took a lot of pics tonight and they're all in my fotki which is below but here's a picture of the progress of my bangs from February of this year to now! I don't realize how much my hair has grown til I do this lol:
Anywhoo have a great holiday weekend everyone! And go Celtics!!!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
Aww thanks Nubie! I know you have totally been with me throughout my entire journey lol! I appreciate the support! I don't have any crazy plans. I was thinking about straightening for my one yr but that defeats the purpose of celebrating my naturalness lol. So I have no idea!
Anywho I have been experimenting with some hair styles for the past couple of days until I put my next set of twists in. Here are some pictures:
I just bought Yes to Carrots Hair Moisturizing Mud Mask. I know! I need to stop buying things. I can't help it. Well yes I can I just need will power lol. I will tell you guys how I like it though.

Didn't realize I had not visited in a while. Glad I dropped in. I'm all caught up.
Love your color. May have to experiment with your henna mix.
Your recent styles are too cute.

Thanks for stopping by ChrsLvsBks!
So today I used Yes to Carrots Hair Mud Mask and it wasn't what I expected lol. I was expecting something thick & heavy and it was light! I kept it on for about 30 mins and then rinsed it out. At first I thought it left my hair feeling coated but then I realized I hadn't rinsed it all out. It was nothing miraculous. I don't know if I'd buy it again but I'll keep using it cause it wasn't bad or anything... I don't know if I'm making sense lololol.
Anyway I tried a new protective style today. Flat twists all around and pinned up. It's not as neat as I would like in the back but I'm gonna keep it in til at least Saturday I hope. I will dress it up with some earrings and make up so it doesn't look too severe for work lol. What do you think?
see how messy? lol.
I say practice makes perfect so I'm gonna keep at it, lol. Hope everyone's having a good week so far!

Re: *xtremelyperfect*
OK so I didn't wear those twists to work. I chickened out and thought someone might say something(i work at a slightly casual fine dining restaurant). Anyway here's the resulting twistout:
I'm happy. We'll see how it looks tomorrow lol. Yikes! Hope everyone had a good day.
