Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
So last night, I was inspired by Lynnieluve to do a twistout. I used...
My trusty homemade conditioning gel
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
and Taliah Waajid Lock It Up Gel
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
and my fingers...no comb cuz it was the middle of the night when I did this and I was sleepy, lol.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The
twists came out really nice, but not so good in the back because my
hair is shorter. The next morning, I did the twistout, but when I fluff
my hair to cover the parts I made....Lucy went on a mean streak....
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So...I
just put my bonnet back on and went back to sleep out of frustration.
So when I woke up again, I just put my water/glycerin spray, coconut
oil, and conditioning gel on Lucy and voila!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I probably have a better twistout when my hair grows out some more.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It looks nice. I am going to have to get me some glycerin, what does it do to your hair? thats what I said, i am going to wait until my hair grows out some more. Maybe by my b-day (sept 11) i will try it.

Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
The glycerin basically draws all the moisture in the air into your hair. Makes my hair really soft and moisturized.

i'm torn btween co-washing more often and less often...i wanted to manipulate my hair as least as possible so cowashing 1x or 2x a week, but the warm weather approaching makes me want to cowash everyday...idk...i was gonna co-wash this morning ( tuesday) but i didnt because i saw it had rained and didnt know how cold it was outside...i'm probably gonna cowash in the morning just because i feel like i've been using alot of products without washing in between

Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
Well here's my starting pic for the month. I didn't take one last month, but here's a comparison of my BC and yesterday.
After the BC
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
June 1
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
My regimen is pretty much the same, I think. I wash and DC on Mondays then cowash once during the week. I'm trying to cut back on the manipulation so that my edges will get thicker so I might cut out the mid-week cowash.
Right now I'm using Hairveda products for the most part, but I still use Darcy's Botanicals and a few others...it just depends on my mood. I got some of Qhemet's Amla and Olive heavy cream and that stuff is the bomb!! It makes my hair so soft.
Here's a pic of my latest style.

@LaToya thats some really good growth!!! And those twists look really great!! I'm still trying to get the hang of flat twisting my hair. The 2 strands are still not working out for some reason I need something with more hold because they keep unraveling.

If I have enough, you have more than enough! LOL Make sure you post a pic if you do them.

Thanks mstokes. Have you tried doing them with gel?
Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
@Latoya- no I haven't lol because it seems like everytime I start I'm sitting there watching TV playing in my hair & next think I know I have like a little less than half of my head in twists lol. Its bad, like I zone out or something lol. I left my shea butter mix at home but I'm hoping when I try them again in a little bit with the Curls Goddess Gel that they'll come out good.

Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
LaToya - love your style. Definitely making it a goal for me!
Ladies, I found two you tube videos that helped me and wanted to share.
One is a recipe for a leave in conditioner definitely going to try to make it because it has castor oil in it - https://www.youtube.com/user/kimmaytube?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/17/qXi2k4cFFhI
The other one is a coil out video - the girl has a lot more hair, but looking at her technique helps - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_jf81JmPys My twists unravel maybe because of the length?? and lack of practice [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] But the coils are really helping.
@Jome - there are two pages in the 1st TWA challenge ( I think pages 16 & 18) that have links to styles that really inspired me.
@Iri - having a hard time with cowashing too. It is getting hot and my hair is definitely getting dryer throughout the day. Last night I put a leave in and plastic baggie and wrapped a satin scarf around it overnight and it kept the moisture in last night. I just sprayed the glycerin mix and put on curls creme brulee & goddess gel and it was moist and ready to go! May be an alternative to co washing. I know I worry about product buildup, but if I feel like I put too much, I just use a clarifying shampoo and start over!

Re: TWA Growth Challenge Month 2
Ladies, everyone's hair is super duper nice! You all have some crazy growth and I'm speechless because everyone is beginning to push out these twists and twist outs like it's nobody's business; what am I doing wrong? I guess being tender headed doesn't help either so I tend to leave my hair be unless it's finger coils.

My hair in the "Today" pictures was just freshly clarified with Elucence clarifying shampoo and ready for my Shea Moisture Deep conditioning mask or whatever it's called [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I usually leave it in overnight and rinse it out in the morning and style with my HG products (Kccc & KT). That's all I really do with it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
