Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
OH!! I am will be doing a tutorial this weekend on my updo - so I will have to try a new style in about a week because I will be wearing the same updo again. I'm not upset about it either because it was soooo easy to sleep in and that is important to me, LOL
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Wow, 1.5 in. past BSL! That is awesome.
How were you able to eliminate products that didn't work for you and nail down your regi? I'm new and it's hard not to try so much and figure out what REALLY works and should become staples.

I have a rule of not using more than 3-4 products at a time on my hair (I try to stick to 3). It makes it easier to determine which one works well and which one sucks.
Also, protective styling has worked wonders for me. I used to wear my hair out all the time and it barely grew to APL, I mean BARELY.
It took me about a year to develop a regimen that wasn't too complicated but still provided results. So every product I tried, I used it for at least a month to really get a true feel for how it reacted with my hair.
I think hair challenges are a great way to determine what works because if you are a true participator you are disciplined enough to stay consistent with a style and or product.

Congrats on creeping past BSL!! I really admire your non-pj-ness (I know that's not a word but you get what I'm saying ) it's certainly working in your favor! I hope to be able to do some of your cornrow styles soon.

Thanks!
I'm too cheap to be a PJ, LOL. So that helps a lot. My frugal-ness is a blessing in disguise - I make up for it in shoes

GO Tia! Before I found CN I wore buns 90% of the time, due to being style challenged. But I realize the low manipulation to my hair is what gave me the current length I have. But thanks to you lovely ladies and your various protective styles I've added pinned up twist to my regimen. Again GO TIA!!

Thanks all!
It really just snuck up on me. I have plans to get a real hair cut at the end of the summer. I hope this doesn't keep me from doing it.

Congratulations! I like the advice you gave about giving products time in order to know if they work or not for you. I do this as well. I've pretty much been using the same cheap drugtsore products for most of my time natural. I see no point in running out buying new stuff. ~shrugs~
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Good for you sista girl! Just imagine how long those tresses are going to grow when you and the Mr. conceive!

I was so blown away. I recall barely being APL in Aug 2009. I have found a regimen that works for me. I am going to stick with protective styling and keeping it simple until the end of the summer to see how much progress I can make.

wooooooow, i wanna be like that one day! protective styles definitely work for me but i sometimes get greedy w/wearing it out too much and then i pay for it dearly later w/detangling .
i do notice a difference in using the same products consistently becuz in the beginning i was using any n everything at one time cuz i was so excited that i couldnt pin point what worked n didnt. well i got a grip on it now...i just gotta work on the prot sty'n part!!

Great tutorial on the cornrow/twist updo. You make it looks so easy. I just need to practice on cornrowing now.

Thanks ladies! I am really anxious to see where I am when I hit my year mark (from when I started bunning and protective styling).
