New to the board Empty New to the board

Post by Yellagirlcurls 16th March 2010, 8:55 pm

Hi, I am new to the board but I've been checkin out curlynikki's blog for some time. I have been trying to fight my curls for years and am ready to give in. I have not had a relaxer in my hair since 2002 and am totally natural now. I mostly flat iron my hair b/c I can't seem to get 'the right cut' for my hair not to look like a Christmas tree or triangle when worn curly. lol My hair texture is wavy along the front/sides with tighter curls in the back. I'm sure the flat iron is not helping and would like to stop. I probably do that about once every 2 wks. When I've worn it curly I've used and liked Ms. Jessie's curly pudding but lately I've resorted to the brown gel which as I'm sure most of you know doesn't make for a lasting hair style. I'm so clueless and am looking forward to seeing what all of you do and am ALWAYS up for suggestions.

I am scheduled for a cut by a lady that knows how to cut curly hair. I'll post a picture afterwards. Please wish me luck on that one!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hi there! I can relate with the different textures in the areas you mentioned. A cut can definitely help. Hoping you the very best cut to flatter your waves and curls.

Welcome Yella! Just remember this is all trial and error....u will figure out how to tame and work with ur curls/waves really soon! flower U might want to try a flat twist out with Cantu Leave in....that seems to always render great results for most. Check Youtube for tutorials.
