Castor Oil Challenge - Page 4 Empty Re: Castor Oil Challenge

Post by tiashaunteé 5th April 2010, 10:41 am

The time frame I chose finally ended. My scalp thanks me for it. I like using the Castor oil so much that I am making this a staple in my regimen. I may not do it as much in the summer but I will be using it at least after every wash. I am hoping this will alleviate some of the dryness I experience in the colder weather months.

I plan to do a roller-set next week to see the results of both my winter bunning challenge and the Castor oil challenge.

I don't really have any negatives about the Castor oil especially after I found that it was not causing me to itch. It actually helped me discover the cause of the itching. The Castor oil made my roots super soft and feeling moisturized so now I am going to use the mix on my ends also. I would like to use it on my entire length but that would be too much of a greasy mess.

So far so good! My edges are coming in very nicely and and spot where I had breakage are are growing in nicely as well. I have a little over a month left in my frame but i can definitely see some improvements on my hair!

Castor Oil Challenge - Page 4 Empty Re: Castor Oil Challenge

Post by agore07 8th April 2010, 8:33 pm

I am really seeing a difference, I had some sores in my scalp on Sunday and today I only feel one left. I mixed my castor with shea and melted it put on my scalp and twisted with. What a huge difference plus the moisture is amazing.

RookieSeabrooks: I also tried Aloe Vera gel, water, peppermint, eucalyptus and sage EO for a spritz mix for my scalp and it feel so invigorating ! This will be my go to for the summer, I will still try and incorp the castor oil in my regimen, but it's just so heavy, I might use it for doing pony baggy's at night in the summer tho. Still undecided if I will do daily co-washes this summer. I know if I leave my hair out, i'm gonna have to work hard to keep it moisturize tho. so much to consider Razz

Post by Muz 8th April 2010, 10:45 pm

okay, results are in. I wasn't exactly very diligent. LOL, but I was pretty good about getting my edges and that's where I measured. So here ya go: http://muzikalhairjournal.blogspot.com/2010/04/castor-oil-challenge-is-over.html

I've decided I'm going to keep going until my BC or anticipated date of BC which is May 23, and I'm going to try to be more diligent about it.

Post by agore07 12th April 2010, 2:45 am

hey ladies,

So I'm using my castor oil, aloe vera gel and lavendar and tee tree EO, and vegie glyc for an overnight DC . Hoping I get good results. I will also use it with my shea to lock in the moisture tomorrow.

But i have notice my scalp is soooo much better. I wonder how this will work in the summer tho.

Anybody every use Castor oil in the summer months ?

I am using it sparingly. I'm afraid the heat will send it oozing down my neck and face. Not a good look.

new2curl: I use Home Health brand for castor oil and put it on mondays, wednesdays and fridays. I'll have to admit it's pretty thick but it works wonders when it comes to deep conditioning.

agore07: The spritz mix that your using sounds very invigorating!Haha I'll have to give that a try especially during the summer because here in Diego my hair needs all the moisture it can get!

Thanks for the information. I have to agree with you once you put the Castor oil on during a deep conditioning it really is thick and real seals all the moisture in the hair. I am using the same brand and putting it on in the morning and at night. I am trying to get my edges to grow back.

Im still using the castor oil, even though my challenge time is up. I will say that I can definitely tell a difference, mainly around my edges! I wasn't super consistent in applying it to my scalp as much as I was my edges...but I can tell that my hairline has thickened up! So Im going to continue using it a few times a week.

I really want to try this challenge but I hate the smell of clear castor oil. I remember the smell and drinking it when I was little and it makes me gag a bit lol. Is the smell of the JBCO different from the clear? I would mind any scent other than the clear one. Also is the sams website the cheapest for shipping?

What does it smell like? The Home Health brand I have (in my opinion) smells like nothing. It's just there.

Since starting this challenge, I have new found respect for castor oil! I loooooove it!!! I used it to moisturize my scalp while I was twisted for the last six weeks, and I can definitely see the difference in how my hair feels and looks. My ends are so healthy!

My hair really loves it. Definitely a keeper!

JBCO has a burnt smell but it fades away (unless I just get use to it lol). I ordered from sams the shipping wasn't cheap but they have discounts on there facebook page sometimes that makes up for it.
