Castor oil VS Jamaican black castor oil
Hey Naturals,
I am really looking for an oil to reduce dryness and flakes for the winter. NO snow flakes in my hair this winter! lol I read a few reviews about castor oil and jamaican black castor oil they seem to be great products BUT WHICH ONE WORKS BEST???? What is the difference between the two?

Because I'm 'frugal' I only purchased regular CO... It works well for me. I've read that it's thicker than JBCO. I buy regular CO for $4 or less from pharmacy like Rite Aid. I love CO along my hairline, smooths better than gels.

Re: Castor oil VS Jamaican black castor oil
I did a Google search awhile back about this and read that someone called the manufacturers of JBCO and asked them the difference between regular CO and JBCO. She stated that the manufacturers told her that they just add water to regular CO to make the JBCO.
I don't know how true this is so I plan to call them myself one day.

I use Tropical Isle. Here is what they say on the website:

Here is another site about it

This one breaks down the different brands and types of castor oil (and Tropical Isle JBCO seems to win hands down)

Thanks Shrinkage!
I didn't see anything of that when I searched.

Re: Castor oil VS Jamaican black castor oil
I have tried both and I love the JBCO better. I use hate the smell of castor oil even though some people say they dont notice a scent! The JBCO smells better to me even with the slight smokey sent and its not to heavy or sticky. I mix it with coconut oil , ess. oils and aloe vera juice on my scalp for added benefits and it reallllly reduces scalp itching. I use it alone to seal my ends after moisturizing and it seems to help.
To boost up the benefits of conditioners the clear castor oil is great!

I agree that JBCO is great. I have fine hair and I am still able to use it to seal my ends. I also massage my scalp and hairline with it every other night. I just recently tried the JBCO shampoo and it is equally wonderful.

I found that the regular castor oil seemed to just sit on my scalp and hair. The JBCO seemed like it was absorbed into the scalp/hair.

Being the pj that i am i went out and bought the reg castor oil i was too anxious YOU KNOW THE FEELIN LOL I mixed it with jojoba oil, tea tree, and sweet almond oil to kill the tea tree smell I applied the mix to my hair and it feels moisturized! BUT it does have a heavy feeling like when your mom greased your scalp when you were little but it doesnt have that GREASY feel to it..I will try the jamaican black castor oil next to compare the two...

You can order the castor oil off of vitacost.com and you get more bang for your buck. They have other things as well that can be ordered at cheaper prices and shipping is very reasonable. I think its $5 to ship.

Re: Castor oil VS Jamaican black castor oil
Hahaha!! I think I'll be good now that I got what I wanted. Hopefully these oils will last a while, especially since I already have some EVOO and coconut oil. oh and yes, the shipping was $4.99 so for 3 items that's not bad. thanks for puttin us on to this one!!

I found this to be true too. The regular castor even blended was too heavy for my hair. The JBCO gets absorbed so much better. I tend to have mild eczema flare ups on my inner elbows at times and this knocks it out literally overnight. I've read other reviews that it helps with eczema. Its my miracle beauty product now. My only complaint is its only available online where I live and the shipping can be pricey.

I found it on amazon.com, http://www.ayurnaturalbeauty.com/ (where I've order other products from) and ended up ordering from http://www.jamaicanblackcastoroil.com/ because they were having a sale at the time.
