Satin/Silk Scarves Empty Satin/Silk Scarves

Post by MissFierce21 2nd November 2009, 10:37 pm

Hello Ladies.
I am having the hardest time finding satin/silk scarves. All I see is polyester, and I don't think that works. Meanwhile, I see all of the fly naturals rocking their scarves; I feel so isolated [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . LOL

Where do you ladies purchase your scarves???

I know this probably won't work for everyone but my mom had a lot of silk scarves with old pants suits and I basically just took them lol. Check department stores too or maybe online retailers like nordstrom or etsy or even amazon?

And I just thought of this one but maybe go to a craft store of fabrics store and cut a yard (not even a yard). That may be a tad more expensive but maybe not. Let us know what you find!

bevyboo628 I believe I'm going to do the same thing. I just started back sewing. So why not sew me a satin and silk scarf. Let me know how yours turns out.

I would def say make your own. If you can't sew you can always buy the fabric from a fabric store and use the no sew hemming tape(found in the section where the sewing stuff is sold). You iron it on(on a low setting of course) and viola you have a HOT Scarf with with very little effort!

Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum but I had to shout out Pretty AnntoiNet's silk hair bonnet. I ordered the silk bonnet, the silk cap and the silk hair wrap and I'm so pleased with everthing. The silk is high quality and she includes washing instructions. The prices are a little on the high end, but I think the quality justifies it. Shipping was fast too. Here's a link to her website: http://prettyanntoinets.com/

I just found this website - http://www.hthandicrafts.org/SHOP/Products/Silk-Scarf__11-175.aspx

Here is their mission statement:

"Our mission is to equip and assist people in developing countries to break the cycle of poverty through their handiwork and creativity. We focus on handicraft projects that allow the development of a micro enterprise, leading them down the path to self-sufficiency. These projects are very small enterprises, ranging from one refugee family to a group of village women, all in need of a consistent income.

Our goal is to help subsidize existing Livelihood Projects by helping with assistance in business and product development, local marketing strategies, spiritual guidance and international marketing.

We agree with the standards of the Fair Trade Federation by way of definition and guidelines....100% of the sales proceeds are reinvested back into the livelihood project. The funds are used to ensure an ongoing market and source of income. When possible, funds are designated for special needs, equipping seminars and equipment."

Sounds like a noble cause....and the things on that website are cute AND inexpensive....$10.00 for a silk scarf! Its not specifically a head scarf but I figure it should work the same!
