TJ-
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Has the time gone by quickly? Your hair looks so shiny and healthy.
Your twists look very pretty.
Today marks 2 weeks since my BC, the dryness is much better....
Congrats again.

Me too!!!sweetdrk1 wrote:traveljunkie08 wrote:On Sunday when I did my hair, I put it in twists so I could wear a twist out today. I've been really inspired by some of the twist styles I've seen on the forum, so I decided I didn't want to take the twists out and decided to pin them up. I grabbed some bobby pins and just started pinning. This is how it turned out:
It wasn't perfect, but it was presentable. I received quite a few compliments while I was out and about. Since it turned out so well, I'll probably keep the twists in a few more days.
I love it!!!!!

You are doing what you can. That is always enough. Some people don't even know what is going on! You are a Blessing, You have touched someones life in a special unselfish way.

@Courtney: Thanks! Yes, the time has gone by rather quickly. So glad the dryness has gotten better. Love your avatar!
@Chrs & Kea: Thank!!!!
@HumanNature: Thank you so much for the kind words. It's just so sad. I've been in touch with a few groups, so once the initial rescue and reliefs efforts are over, I hope to be able to travel to Haiti to do more.

I've been slacking on the forum. Getting ready for school to start as well. I'm late, but Happy Belated Founders Day Soror! Thanks for being a good mentor and friend to me even tho we've only known each other a few weeks. That's what this sisterhood is all about. :-)

Re: **traveljunkie08**
Much to my surprise, the twists I put in last week lasted all week. After visiting Lynnieluve's thread and seeing that she co-washed with her twists in, I decided to give it a try also. So I applied AO Egyptian Henna Shine Clean Rinse to my scalp and gently massaged it in. I then hopped in the shower, and rinsed well. I applied some KBB hair oil and put on a scarf to help flatten out the roots and edges (they had puffed up quite a bit as you'll see). After they dried, I applied KBB hair butter and that's it. The twists were really soft and my scalp stopped itching. I left the twists in another two days, applying KBB hair butter in the morning and at night. I untwisted them yesterday and pinned them to one side.
Here's the twists before I washed them:
Here's after:
Here's how I styled the twist out:
I thought it looked fine. Once I unraveled the twists, I didn't really separate them because I was afraid they'd get frizzy. I much prefer a chunky twist out. I get more volume that way and I think it just looks better on me. I plan on washing my hair today.

Wow, they look good, I'm trying to figure out what everyone is using to keep their twists so long. I didn't use anything for hold last week and I realize now that is a no no for lasting power. Did you use the KBB butter for hold?
Re: **traveljunkie08**
@ TravelJunkie - Your twist looked good. Your twist out was amazing!!
@ NTCM - In my experience, KBB holds really well. I plan to order some more after my no buy challenge.

Re: **traveljunkie08**
@NTCM: All I used was Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Heavy Cream. I wasn't sure if it would have enough hold to it, but it did. I was pleasantly surprised. My hair at the top and the nape are a looser texture than the rest of my hair, so I had to re-twist a few of those. I used the KBB hair butter to re-twist (my hair only likes the AOHC when damp) and those held up well too. So I'd agree with Lynnieluve that the KBB hair butter has enough hold.
@Lynnie: Thanks!!!

Yay twists!
I may have to try this Qhemet Cream everybody's talking about. But I haven't even begun to use the products I already have. Last thing I need is more. Lol

@J-N-B- good girl/soror! Don't become a product junkie like most of us. Use the products you have. What works for one person might not work for you. Go through your current stash and find what items works for you!
@traveljunkie- You are going to make me twist my hair, LOL!

@J-n-B: I totally agree w/ Pinkrage! Use what you have, and then try QB. I definitely think it's a line you should try at some point.
@Pinkrage: You should twist your hair!!! I bet it would look great.
