To prepare your hair i would prepoo , wash and deep condition , before i get the cornrows to apply the weave , than i would have some type of moisturizer spritz mixed that i can apply to my scalp and track daily and you can even add oil to your scalp when needed than to wash the weave while in your hair i usually go to a salon for that but i'm sure you wash your hair as usual but have to seat under the drier for longer so that your hair underneath does not mildew

I really want a sew in but my bf said he wants to be able to touch my scalp. Some day I wil convince him into letting me get one.

DO NOT apply mosture tothe scalp daily. it will cause smell and build up and the weave will not last as long. if anything you need to clen the scalp as your hair will be more moist than usual. I use witch hazel sprayed on the scalp about once a week and braid spray once a week or 2 times the most.
You are 24 and should not let your man dictate how you wear your hair. If you want it get it.JaliseH wrote:I really want a sew in but my bf said he wants to be able to touch my scalp. Some day I wil convince him into letting me get one.

@RayRay
Glad to see you posting again!! I've worn sew in also. I only would let them stay in 6-8 weeks, any more than that and my hair would be Knot City. Now is your weave gon last longer than your yarn braids did? Lol
@JaliseH
I agree with Krys315. The weave is only temporary. He'll live.

Re: Im getting me some weave!!!
I was just thinking about getting a sew-in at The Weave Shop but I've been hesitating because of working out and my scalp. But your description of washing while wearing a weave makes it seem easy.
Re: Im getting me some weave!!!
I got my sew in and I love it!!! Right now its a lil tight but it slowly easing up

now i know alot of you were saying just left the tracks up to moisturize my hair but the girl who did my sew in did my cornrows real close and its almost impossible to get in between them like that..so what should i do??? also she told me not to put products on my weave (its remy) because it will look bad..is that true?? because if so oh well cause im not forgetting about my hair under here and thickum needs moisture, water, and sealants regularly...

Re: Im getting me some weave!!!
Well with me, I don't like to leave sew-ins in for more than a month. And I would suggest not putting any type of oil on ur hair, unless its on ur scalp but be sure it doesnt get on the track. I really don't know anyone who likes weighed down hair. I don't see the point of washing it either. just because agter you wash tracks, they feel nasty and synthetic. I hold this true for all human hair even virgin hair. lol. Maybe i'm just a "new" person. I don't reuse things or wash them. I throw them out and buy some more.
Ive had abt 3 sew-ins, because I usually always glued in 2 tracks and it last a week. (take them out, washed my hair, and put new ones in..lol)
Hope i kinda helped lol

nvm yall my tracks really aren't that close I can still put my finger in them..I mixed a spritz with water and aubrey HSR conditioner and just sprayed it on my roots where the cornrows are..I didn't spray none on the actually hair..my hair feels a lot better after i moisturized it..my scalp isn't throbbing no more

Oh yeah, and as far as putting product on your weave: DON'T! Lol, any type of oil (sheen) or anything will make it look greasy and uncute. You can wash it but use the same principles you would with Thickum. Wash it in the shower in conditioner or non sulfate shampoo and focus mostly on getting your scalp clean. I've washed A LOT of weave while it was still in so it can be done, lol.

OOOOOOO Ray i'm loving the new DO yo better keep in in for at least 2 months you did right with the spritz that should help as far as the weave in the beginning you do not need any oils on it just style it as usually when and if it starts looking dull get you some oil sheen and a weave detangling spritz from the beauty supply store you can blow dry the weave with the detangling spray that add the oil sheen and flat iron it

Re: Im getting me some weave!!!
Dc'ing with a weave in is a whole other animal. I have not worn a weave since being "enlightened" on the proper hair care techniques, lol. I will think on it and try to come up with something. Hopefully someone will chime in.
