I'm not sure if I'm all the way natural or not. I got my hair cut and then stopped getting perms about eight months ago. All of my friends told me that most people get texturizers after cutting their hair off to define a curl pattern. Is this true? I did it when I first got it cut, but I was wondering if it was healthy for the hair??? Also I just joined CN so how do I post a profile pic?

No, that is not true. Your hair should have a natural curl pattern. Please do not use a texturizer.

I have been natural for 9 months now I havent had a relaxer since April 2010 after the last relaxer I BC & havent looked back I am loving who I am now more than ever.

O Ok thank you so much "Coilykinks." I did the texturizer after i got it cut and haven't tried it since then because I didn't think i should continue doing that.

A lot of the products I use on my hair, I make myself using natural ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil and essential oils. I have only been watching for 1 year and I have several drivers that I would like to see succeed.

uh, i've been natural coming on a year next month, my only problem is protective styling, it's starting to be a task for me.

Most of my life... I was natural from birth til I was about 12. I continued the relaxer for a few years as a young teen (12-15), and due to bad hair care practices it broke off all my hair, and I wound up shaving my head near bald when I was 16. I've been 100% natural --well except for the occasional foray into chemical color-- since then. I guess that was back in 1991 or so?

My last relaxer was Oct 11, 2010; I did a semi BC (I only have an inch of relaxer left) on 2/14/11 and I'm sooooo anxious to get this inch cut out, because the two textures are driving me crazy plus with it as short as I have it the curl doesn't look as nice to me with the stick straight pieces poking out....therefore I'm thinking Today I'm getting this inch cut off!!! S/N I have to change my profile pic to reflect my semi chop. Lol

I've been natural for 11 years.

I've been natural for two years, but I'm currently growing out heat damage.

1 year in 4 days.

Approx 20 months natural. I became ill in Jan 2009 (last perm Dec 2008) and started losing my hair (chemo trmts). Buzzed it ALL off and I do mean buzzed (just below shoulder length) to down to hardly anything. Around 'approx' June 2009 I would say my hair started growing back and officially natural!

Been Natural since 2004!!

BC 3/2010

1st time natural: 1995-2008 (wore natural twists/twisouts, etc., locs, braids)

backslid into the creamy crack 2008- May 2009 (last relaxer)

2nd time natural: February 24, 2010 (BC)
