Dry Twists or Wet
I prefer dry twists, because it gives me more length and my hair does not shrink.
The only thing about dry twists is that my stylist uses heat to dry my hair. And I am scared of heat damage.
Wet twists do appear to be fuller.
So what do you ladies prefer?

I like wet twists. My hair is so fine that dry twists look thin. My wet twists have body.

I prefer dry twist because it shows my length with minimal shrinkage. The down side for me is waiting for my hair to dry so I ended up taking two days to finish my hair (wash at night and twist the next day).

i've only ever twisted on dry hair but i want to try twisting on wet hair because i love the fullness
Re: Dry Twists or Wet
I prefer wet twists b/c my hair is fine. But when it gets longer, I don't really mind wet or dry.

For those that do twist on dry hair, what products are you using? Are you wetting your hair at all prior to doing the dry twist?
I've only done twist on wet hair and don't particular like the extreme shrinkage I get which is why I switched over to braids/braid-outs.

When I twist on dry hair, this last time I used Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer and Curly Butter. In the past I have used Koils by Nature Hair and Body Butter and eucalyptus gel.
The products are water based but it only causes minimal shrinkage vs the shrinkage I would get doing it on wet hair using the same products.

Re: Dry Twists or Wet
i prefer damp or dry hair twists, its easier for me to part to make the sections and i dont have to deal with slippage from wet hair+ product or tangling during the process.
Have you considered washing and air drying yourself and then going to the salon for the style? I used to do that often when i was permed cuz i have a "thing" about people washing my hair beatin my head with a brush, and rough handling my hair, not to mention burning my scalp during the drying process. That way you also get to use the products you like if you have any omissions or whatnot (cones, mineral oils...)
When i twist on dry hair for a protective style i use a water based thicker product (Shea Moisture Hair Masque). If im twisting with the purpose of wearing a twist out for days at a time (very rare) I mix a conditioner (thick water based), butter (shea/mango) and styling product (usually olive oil eco). Hope that helps!

I prefer to twist on damp hair, it still shows some length but it still gives the fullness of twisting wet.
Re: Dry Twists or Wet
I prefer to twist on dry hair because it shows off more length and twisting on wet hair is just aggravating to me, i cant twist as fast when i do it on wet hair...I band my hair after i wash, DC, and detangle..then I apply
1.KCKT leave in
2.Qhemets AOHC
3. Shea butter to seal it all in
I apply these to each section as I twist

I like wet twists. I don't want the ends of my hair brushing up against my sweaters, so I want as much shrinkage as possible. Then again, I like shrinkage....

Re: Dry Twists or Wet
Well I kind of do the most when it comes to twist.... I like to do them wet and let them dry then re-do them after they have dried! I feel my twist are better defined when dry and although it doesn't give me much more length they do look better! Plus i feel i get twice as much moisture when I do it this way!
Re: Dry Twists or Wet
I like the length and ease of dry twists, but I think my hair looks more shiny/moisturized when I do it wet. However, I'm not really adding too much in the way of product when I dry twist--just oil on my hands. I will probably have to explore products to use on my hair when it's dry.
I compromised last night--damp twists with oil (starting out with dry hair that I spritzed with water). I'll see how it turns out tomorrow, when I untwist.

[b]what i do most of the time is on my wash day i twist each section after i detangle and leave it that way for about three days and on the fourth day i'll unravel them and from then on i'll re-twist every night before bed. and as the week goes by it gets bigger and bigger.so i start off wet but end up dry.

Re: Dry Twists or Wet
I have only done dry twists ones but I want to try dry twists and then roll the ends with my flexi rods!
Have any of you ladies tried that before?
I love body and curls!

Re: Dry Twists or Wet
I tried both wet and dry but prefer dry. Dry gives my hair more length and definition. I've also used rollers on it after I've twisted it dry and get a great new/different look. I used Giovanni Leave in the last time as a leave in conditioner (will try Shea Moisture Deep Treatment next time). I then put on mysacredproduct gel and sealed with a shea butter mixture.

I love my wet twists. The shrinkage makes my thin hair look fuller. Dry twists on me look very scalpy.

I also prefer dry twist, less shrinkage and if my hair needs some moisture during the week, I lightly spritz with aloe vera juice mixed with some oils and honey.
