hey ladies!
when im trying to define my curls by using gels or the KCCC my curls dont really define like they use to when i did my first BC. they seem very limp like with no volume or spring.....this is very different for me. any suggestions???

Hi Ladies,

I BC'd January 14, 2011 and I'm still having withdrawals from having longer hair. I am used to my hair being shoulder length but it has always been very thin with lots of breakage. I began transitioning in August of 2010. That lasted for about two months before the frustration came and homecoming so I decided to relax it again. Upon relaxing my hair, I was still not pleased at the site of thin, brittle, and damaged hair. I noticed that my hair was also uneven. So, I started back transitioning in late October. I did straw sets (as in my avatar), roller sets, and pinned my hair back. I was determined to go transition and trim each month rocking new transitions style each week. It wasn't until one evening while braiding my hair that it was brought to my attention that my hair had broken off badly in the back and not growing as I was thinking. At that moment, I knew it was time for me to BC. After the BC, I was devastated about my hair but I had to remember that this was the BEST choice for my hair because it wasn't healthy nor growing. Every time I get discouraged on this new journey, which is exciting, I look back at the pictures of that thin, damaged, and unhealthy hair and realize that this is a milestone in the place I want to be with my hair. So I am here excited ready for us to take this journey together! Thanks Netta for starting this thread, it keeps me inspired. Also, I will be posting pics of my BC and the progress of my new TWA Peace Divas!

I want to get in on this as well! I BC'ed on 12/20/2010 so I'm a little over my 1 month anniversary. I transitioned for 6 months before I chopped. I have to figure out how to add pictures like you guys did. My hair on BC day is in my avatar. I have to figure out how to post a pic on here but as soon as I do, I'll be back. There are pics on my blog though!

Currently, I'm using, Curls Cleansing Creme Shampoo,Herbal Essence Hello Hydration for my rinse out conditioner/detangler, Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner, and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie & Jane Carters Wrap & Roll setting lotion for stylers along with Eco Styler Gel depending on the style. I wash my hair once a week.

I'm trying not to become a product junkie so I haven't experiemented with many products but I do need a really good deep conditioner. Any recommendations?

Hi everyone. I would like to join this challenge. I usually only get on CN for little snippets at a time, but I need some encouragement and inspiration, so I'll try to be consistent with checking in.

I bc'd on 9/16/11 (for the 2nd time) after 3 mos. transitioning. Loved my twa initially, then went thru a period of WTH (that's "heck," if you please). I had this patch right in the back of my head that wouldn't curl at all -- just fuzz. But it's settling into a more curly pattern now and I'm loving it again. No doubt I'll go thru another valley or two (or 4 or 6) at some point on this journey, but I'm in it to win it!

Mostly I knit, but have been crocheting a little also. Right now I'm working on a neck warmer, but haven't picked it up in several weeks. Life gets in the way, you know? BTW, check out this blog. Pics so far. I BCd 12/23/2010. So it's been about 6 weeks. Not too much growth, but there's a little to let me know it's healthy and it's growing a little, which is better than nothing : )

I big chopped myself @ 2 in the morning. 2/1/11 I haven't figured out a regimen yet. Right now i just have a headband.

Hello ladies, its been a minute, but Febuary is check in month !! post your pics ! don't expect a lot of growth in one month, but long as your hair is healthy is what matters !
Welcome Phenomenise !!! Congrats on your BC ! your in the right place.
Now some have asked what I think helped my growth ! Prayer, Moisture,Prayer! condition, prayer !!! keep it simple. I use moisture, condition leave in everyday and sleep in silk bonnet. i don't comb my hair a lot, if any.

Thanks, Netta. My avatar pic was taken approx 4 weeks after by BC, or 4 mos. ago (I should probably change it). Looking forward to seeing your update pics -- good idea about same day each month. I'll try to do that also.

Welcome !! KinkyHeadSwag and Naturally4me ! Congrats on your big chop. No rules, just enter your info (which you can find at the start of this thread). date of bc, products and pics. Every month we update our pics and chart our growth. That's it ! It's a good idea to update the same date each month . Now drum role please for my Feb. updates ! Dec = 1/4 inch hair. Jan = 1inch. Feb=1 & 1/2 inch.
