Twist n curl~length retention?

So.. I understand how keeping your ends hidden away & moisturized in a bun is a great protective style. I been rocking those a coupla days a week. But I love me some twist n curl! I have seen some say that they saw great length retention with it. I'm wondering how? Cause for me, my hair when in that style hangs at my shoulders & brushes my clothing. I know that's no bueno for trying to get past the shoulder growth:-( Is it because it's a low manipulation style) idk! Help a girl out, please! Oh and if anyone here wears them often like Nikki, lemme know if if helped w/ retention. Thanks!

I think that it helps with length retention because when your hair is in a stretched state it is less likely to tangle and curl up on itself causing single strand knots (which have to be cut out). Easier detangling=less broken hairs.

a-ha.. i forget about the whole stretched styles helping to prevent ssk's! I get that. I was just worried about my hair rubbing my clothing;-( I mean, I don't have lots of silk shirts! lol

Sorry, I can't help you with the clothes rubbing thing-lol. Maybe you can t-n-c then put it in a pony/puff to keep off your collar.
