Misskris' hair journey....
Hey Ladies...
My name is Kristen. I live in the Atlanta metro area. I have been natural since my sophomore year in college, so 1996/97. So some of you have helped me out already. I am fairly new to CN and LOVE LOVE LOVE this site. It is chock full of info.
Recently I noticed that my hair was shedding/thinning like NEVER before. It could be due to a number of things --- postpartum shedding, diet, hard water, STRESS (unemployed), sweating.... who knows!!!! So I found curlynikki.com and have found a wealth of information. I have started keeping my hair way better mositurized and did a deep conditioning treatment about 3 weeks ago for the first time in only God knows how long --- YEARS!!! It made my hair super soft and shiny. I mixed LeKair cholesterol, evoo and honey.
So I have found a few challenges on here that I am interested in...the 3 inches or more in 6 months and healthy hair from within - I need to be doing this one anyway since I have been trying to lose the rest of this weight!! LOL
I look forward to talking with all you curlies for support and great info and new ideas!!! And thanks, Nikki, for creating such a great website!!!

Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Thank you sweetdrk1!
Ok, so I got my shipment of henna and Grow My Hair Butter from www.buttersnbars.com today and I can't wait to use them. I can't believe how caught I have gotten in this whole hair thing and curlynikki.com!! But I am so glad I found it. Everyone has so far been so nice and helpful. But it's like for each person that suggests something, there are just as many suggestions!!! LOL SO I guess I just need to experiment (but not too much) and see what works for me. I would like to try to use only all natural products but because I have some products still around I wanna use them up first. And plus all natural stuff costs more. I suppose I can stick to my trusty Trader Joe's for the natural goods. (I LOVE that store!)
If anyone feels like/and has the time, please feel free to send me your simple, easy hair care suggestions. Mainly for moisturizing. Thanks again,

Hi Miss Kris..Welcome. So glad you are here and have benefitted from this site. I too have found a wealth of knowledge here, and am very thankful for it. The moisture problem is a familiar one for me. I condition and then seal with an oil. That is the most simplest. Then there is the Knot Today from KCCC. Then my all time fav is Qhemet biologics the Amla and Olive Heavy Cream or the Burdock Root Butter Cream. Any of these will help..Blessings

The Qhemet's store is going to be closed until mid January per the note on the website. How do you wear your hair, twists, twist-outs, wash n gos, buns? Target now has a lot of natural hair products that are more afforadable. Most of the items from the Shea Moisture Line are $9.99 and the Curls products are affordable also.
Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Yes Qhemets is pricey..Not the most expensive. A little goes a long way..Believe me. But you are in Atlanta and qhemets is sold near you I forgot where, though.

Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Hey KrazyCoils. Oh I didn't see the note on the webpage. thanks!
I normally do wear it as a WnG but now that it is colder outside I haven't done that in weeks. Right now it's in 2strand twists. when I go out somewhere it do the twist out. I actually have the twists IN a bun now!! LOL So I covered all that u mentioned!! I have been to Target and am SO glad they carry those products. I have the Giovanni Smooth as Silk poo and condish. I just don't wanna do the PJ thing but I guess you kinda have to to know what works best, huh?

Re: Misskris' hair journey....
@ Jean, yeah they have it at some place called Return to Eden Organic Market. I have never been there but I would imagine that they may be even more pricy so they can get a profit. if it's anything like Whole Foods, it probably is more.
Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Welcome to Curl Street!!!
It's easy to become a PJ especially with everyone giving you their suggestions. As a recovering PJ, I would suggest when you are trying all of these new products, that you try one a time so if you hair does something weird (or good), you'll know what caused it. Also, keep a journal of what you do to your hair on wash day (or whenever you do something new to it). I write down, what products I used, if I had unusual results (dry hair, oily hair, etc) and when I have AMAZING results.
Unless a products makes your hair really dry and brittle feeling, I would suggest using it at least 3 times before you decide if it's a keeper or not. Also if you havent already, start taking pics of your hair. It's another great way to document your progress.
That's all I can think of right now. Try not to get too overwhelmed with all the info and good luck on your healthy hair journey!!

Thanks Lynnie! I will try not to!! After I get my goods I just ordered I probably won't get anything else unless I just don't like them (castor oil, jojoba oil and rosemary eo) Thanks for the advice!!
Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Hi Misskris...
Welcome!! I will not flood you with information, but I am a product junkie!! LOL Everyone has given you a list of great items, and Qhemet is just the best thing ever, so my advice is when trying new products purchase sample sizes when available!
Oh.....do you have pictures of your twists? We like to see pictures...

Re: Misskris' hair journey....
Hi Kinky!! Thanks for the welcome...
So no I don't have any pics yet. The twists I have in my head now are not the cute, neat twists!!! LOL I just put them in after washing/moisturizing so they can be up. But they are not neatly sectioned right now. If I have the patience Saturday after I do my henna and DT I MAY try to do it neatly but maybe not so small. I have 4 kids and a hubby so I am sure they won't allow me that much time!!! Good tip on the product samples. But sometimes I think even the samples cost too much for how small they are!! I guess I am just super frugal!! But if I do the twists neatly enough this weekend and I like em I may post some pics!!!
