ButterflyBAP's Hair Journey - Page 2 Empty Two month photos...

Post by DaButterflyBAP 19th October 2010, 3:08 pm

OK. I love Mary J. Blige. She did the thing! I could tell that she was feeling the music. She put her heart into it. I spent the entire evening dancing and singing. Yes. I'm that girl. LOL I had such a great time.

Here's where I started:

ButterflyBAP's Hair Journey - Page 2 5097446920_9932507bd8_m

I went to the hair guy last week. He was like, "We need to figure out the next stage. I don't want to use "too much product"." Um. Next stage? Seriously, I am loving the wash-n-go. I'm not really sure if I am ready to focus on growing or styling longer hair.

We will decide in December if I should cut or not. Suspect

Your hair is really growing fast! You and the hair truly work together. Good stuff. Smile

I totally missed the 2-month anniversary...guess I'll post pics tomorrow after wash day. LOL

Cut or grow...I feel the same way. I've always loved short hair. I cut off my SL hair in junior high and it's rotated between pixie and chin-length bob ever since. However, part of me wants to see how big my hair can get. Decisions, decisions.

Soooo jealous you got to see Mary J! Dang, I really need her to post a date in Dallas! I love Jazmine Sullivan too, so that concert is a must.

Hey girls!

Yep. The TWA is getting longer. Much faster than I thought.

I have been styling differently. I have been using the Denman brush and "shingling" with hair gel. LOL!

I found this video and I thought that it would work perfectly with my hair!

https://www.youtube.com/user/bambiix2#p/u/30/LCKPBLdETWI

It takes me about 20 minutes to do it and I get really good results for about 3 or 4 days. Wink

I got my butter supplies. Sunday is going to be "My Mother's Daughter" day. I will take photos of the process and results. Smile

After many weeks, I'm just really discovering Curl Street. I enjoyed reading your story. I remember when you BC'd. Your hair looks great. Love the pic of you and your mom. I'm amazed about your hair guy. How blessed you are to have someone to encourage and advise you on your natural journey.

I've been planning to try bambiix's twa style, also. Just waiting for my hair to get some more length.

Crissy - The ?Afroveda controversy has me tripping. It shows me that I better learn to do my own thing because no products are guaranteed!

I have researched ingredients and such this morning. I purchased said ingredients. Now I am going to run to Old Time Pottery to find "jars". Yep. I'm being fancy with it.

Who remembers when Carol's Daughters products came in glass jars with metal latches? I remember that I had a friend SHIP me products from the New York Store (like that was cost effective). I remember freaking for a scrub that had real rose petals in it. Man. Those were the good ol' days.

Hey Dabutterfly!

I've been lurking from a far...your curls are pretty! ;-)

Yes, I remember the glass jars with the metal latches and the scrub with the rose petals! Not too long ago, I bought the body butter that smells like Thanksgiving (I love that smell)...where was my lil bamboo log or stick or whatever it is? Very Happy All I could say is..."What happened? First the Fat Boys, now this!!!"

Yes, those were the good old days! ;-)

Natchralme. Thanks for stopping by and thank you for the compliments. Bambiix's TWA style is the truth. I can sleep on it and not worry about washing and going. Smile

Hi TheRyl1. Thank you for the compliments. I haven't bought a lot since Carol's Daughter became "mainstream". I remember being sooo geeked that they were going to be mainstream. Oh well. I did find the cute jars at the Container Store. Smile

My birthday is tomorrow! Smile I am having a party on Saturday. Smile

Oh yeah. In case you haven't noticed, iSuck at this journal thing.

I am at a cross roads with my hair products. I think that I should look for products that are a little thicker. My hair doesn't feel as moist as I would like. I am going to deep condition with shea moisture products. I really should look into new products.

*sigh*

Post by DaButterflyBAP 9th November 2010, 4:38 pm

So, last night I came up with the bright idea of doing a "coil out". Last night, I spent a hour coiling my kinks with gel. I looked at it and the coils themselves were perfect. Cute, cute, cute!

I went to bed to let them dry. I was soooo optimistic. I had dreams of beautiful coils.

This morning, I couldn't wait to unravel them! I oiled my hands up and went to work.

I looked in the mirror. Shocked

I. looked. like. D.L. Hughley by the head. My coils were sticking straight up. I thought about slicking it down. It boinged back up. Straight up. Shocked

Then I thought that I would tie a scarf into some sort of a headband. Shocked

I know that y'all like pictures. I didn't even take pictures of it.

This weekend I am going to do a roller set. Very Happy

I don't know Court. It was just "interesting".

Today I mixed olive oil in the container of the Eco-Styling gel. Wow! I am pleased with the results.

I decided to try it too (I have a BIG container of the clear ES gel), but the oil turned my gel cloudy and seemed to make my hair look a little dull until it dried; but I had already mixed my EcoStyler w/a bit of curl activator, so maybe that was the problem. Did your's cloud up at all?

I'm hoping you post an update soon; I'm following your progress because our hair seems to be similar (and your journal is short enough that I've been able to get thru it all). Smile

Natchralme, our hair is very similar!

The oil did make the gel cloudy. I use the green olive oil gel. I am very pleased with the results. I typically add an oil before I put on the gel. I find that the oil/gel mixture makes my hair softer.

My hair is really growing. I desire a new look, so I am going to try to do a rod set this weekend.

I am also going to do a "length check". LOL!

I'll post pictures of both!

I'll be watching! I want to do something different with mine, too, but I feel like it's still too short. I'll be off 2 weeks for Christmas, so I may do some experimenting then. That way, if I look a hot mess, nobody'll know it but me. Smile

I'm so lazy. I haven't taken any pictures. I haven't even steamed my hair. I like to steam at least once a week. I missed it. I tied. Not tired. T-i-e-d!

Then this morning, I made the mistake of mixing oils...Aloxxi (a mixture of safflower, sunflower, :::insert flowername here::Smile and Coconut oil.

My hair is a danggone oil slick! My hands are so greazy and slick!

I am still anxious to find a new hairstyle.

Jermaine Jackson ain't got nothing on me! He-Hee! You know that are you greasy when you can use the oil collected from your hair to rub down your elbows and ashy spots. Rolling Eyes

I think that I have my process down!

Co-wash
Apply leave-in conditioner.
Apply oils
Apply gel..special attention to the 4B area (my temples)

I forgot to mention...finally used my Qhemet AOHC...that stuff is the awesome...hair is moisturized and soft...and more importantly, I've been able to eliminate my daily cowashing (finally).
