African's Herbal Oil Empty African's Herbal Oil

Post by msdivat32 17th August 2010, 5:23 pm

Hi, Ladies!!!

I use the 'Africa's Best Herbal Oil' as a sealant. It is a wonderful oil and provides my hair with great protection, but the smell is very strong and 'oily'. I was wonderiing if there is something I can mix with it with, like maybe a frangrance packet or another oil, to give it a better scent, while not compromising its performance in my hair???

You can add an essential oil. I think the recommended amount is one drop for every four ounces. EO's are very concentrated.

Thats what I was gonna suggest. I bought some lavender, rosemary, and peppermint oil and add those to my mixes that smell funny ( when Im mixing my shea butter mix)

African's Herbal Oil Empty Too cheap to be any good?

For $2 this seems like a really good buy & oil to try.

The ingredients look safe enough:

Soy Bean Oil , Walnut Seed Oil , Kiwi Fruit Extract , Olive Fruit Oil , Castor Seed Oil , Sesame Seed Oil , Jojoba Seed Oil , Carrot Seed Oil , Sweet Almond Oil , Tocopheryl Acetate , Safflower Oil , Calendula Extract , Yarrow Extract , Cucumber Extract , Carrageenan Extract , Ginseng Extract , Sage Extract , Comfrey Extract , Aloe Extract , Fragrance

I have to agree that the fragrance is overbearing... I will definitely be adding an EO. Anyone else using Africa's Best?

I've used it but hated the scent and stopped. I might try again by adding another oil to it though.

Hi msdivat32. If the scent is already too strong wouldn't you want to tone the smell down?? If that's the case I would suggest pouring some out into another container to save for later and add some plain oil that's already in the mix like the jojoba oil. Or maybe even EVOO. I don't think either of those would hurt the effectiveness of the oil.

I added a few drops EO to the oil (in a separate bottle) and it's much better. Much better. I added peppermint, eucalyptus & sage oil to a 2 oz travel size bottle.

i use it too. It does wonders on my and my daughter's hair. I also use it on my skin. I moved to Jersey from the south, and my skin was rebelling big time. I'm talking severely dry even with heavy lotions and creams to the point that I had the dry skin itch that you see on the commercials LOL!
One day I used the AB oil and my skin felt great. Now I use it all over...
