Re: BindyMac's Hair
Nice story and progress. I like your twists, they look so full of body and bounce!
Re: BindyMac's Hair
Hey everybody.
I'm just popping in to officially state that I am pulling myself out of the challenge. I won't be able to make any new posts this week since I'm visiting friends on the other side of the country, and next semester I am going to be very, very busy.
I'm still going to use this to track my progress with my hair, I just won't be posting everyday.
On a different note, my hair is finally long enough where I have to part it in order to properly moisturize it. And since I really, really don't want to do anything with my hair while I'm gone, I put it in about twenty twists which are currently pinned up to my head in an imitation of a bantu knot. Please, please, please last me a week!
I would show pictures, but I can't get decent lighting. Sorry!
Bye ya'll and have a happy new year!

Still come back and post when you can....we are all benefiting so much more from each other's stories
Re: BindyMac's Hair
Hey Everybody!
Thank you so much for the posts. I really appreciate them.
I just want to pop in before school starts in a few days. I've decided to keep my hair in twists until it gets warmer.
I made medium size twists, which takes about 30-45 minutes to do.
I visited my friends with this hair, and since none of them have hair like mine, I got some interesting reactions. They couldn't figure out how my twists don't unravel and one of them said they remind her of a curly fries (she means this in the nicest way possible). They even wanted to watch me when I redid them.
So yeah, my hair is staying like this for awhile. I'll be re-twisting them when needed.
I finally measured my hair and it's 5 and a half inches! I'm going to measure them again at the end of the semester and see where it is! I'm excited.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy new year!

I hope you enjoyed your time away. Great growth--I would not be surprised if your hair reached 7 or more inches by May.

LOL, I love when people are confused about our hair. Gives us a chance to educate them

Re: BindyMac's Hair
Hey everybody!
I have been super busy and my hair is feeling it! Somehow I moved on campus with only my Fructis Garnier Smooth Milk, my Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle conditioner, and Herbal Essence conditioner. But, I ordered some coconut oil which I should get soon. I'm trying not to get too excited about it, just in case it doesn't do the amazing things that everyone's been talking about, but I can't help it! I can't wait!
My hair is getting longer (it's touching the bottom of my bottom lip! Just a few weeks ago, it was barely touching the top lip!), however, my ends are suffering. I think I'll have to trim really soon. There's so many single-strand knots and it feels dryer than the rest of my hair. I can feel and see the difference between my ends and the rest of my hair.
Anyone here watching Kimmytube on youtube? LOVE her videos! And I recently tried out her 'tuck and pin' style. Mine's a mess and all lumpy, but I really love it. It's quick and easy to do and it looks pretty good. I have got to practice at it though.

Hey lady, I hope your hair responds nicely to coconut oil. I hope you will let us know how your hair feels about the oil.
Re: BindyMac's Hair
Definitely! I'm so excited for it, it'd be a shame if it didn't work out.

I know "hate" is a strong word but I HATE those fairy knots!!! They are still amazing to me though. I just look at them and think, "How in the world did you manage to do that strand of hair?!!"

Re: BindyMac's Hair
I know! I look at my knots and think, Really? I have a knot on ONE strand of hair?
Somedays I'm tempted to do what RusticBeauty did - she made a video where she used a safety-pin to untangle one knot. It took her a few minutes, but she got it! But I doubt I'll ever have that patience.

I haven't had to deal with these yet, but I know you can handle and conquer them.

Re: BindyMac's Hair
I got my coconut oil! I ordered it from Subtle Essence, and they threw in a free lip gloss too! I also got a sample whipped hair and body butter from Homemade with Shea.
Non-hair related - I actually got the coconut oil for my skin, and I just got out of the shower and put it on and it's really smooth! We'll see if it lasts.
I'll post again when I test it out on my hair!
