Thanks guys! I'm so excited!

This past weekend I decided to do a new style - flat twists!

The twists were really, really loose, and doing the back was a pain! But I really liked it overall. I'm definitely going to do this again.

I took them out the next day.

I liked the results!

Nothing too exciting today I'm afraid. Just some pics of my hair from yesterday, because today's hair was just a wash-and-go.

Ack! Sorry for the tiny pics! And really, really bad quality.

A Message from my Hair:

Omg, it's freezing out here! Why did you leave the house right after washing me? And that wind ain't helping things a bit! And now you're all mad at ME because I'm not feeling the way I want you to? Well excuse me for being a bit pissed at all the abuse! Seriously! Just give me what I need, and you'll have the prettiest, healthiest hair ever! But until then,

Annoyed Hair (who wishes she had a name, 'cause that'd be cool)

.....

Yeah, not the best of hair days. But still a good day.

Ah! Almost forgot about posting tonight!

My hair's much happier today...though it wishes I'd find something to get rid of that dandruff.

Congrats on the win! And my hair says that to me every now and again...About the dandruff...I recently tried an ACV rinse bc I was plagued with the itchies and it worked! I think its the cold weather thats making the itchies arrived...Ive seen a few ppl on here complaining about dandruff and scalps itching...

Yay! I got my shea butter in the mail on Saturday!

It smells so good - Baby Powder! I put just a little bit in my hair after moisturizing it, and it's really, really soft. I can't stop touching it. I know I'm not supposed to touch it, but how can I do that?

I'm not sure what happened yesterday. But somehow, as the day dragged on, I became self-conscious of my hair. "It's so big" I thought. And I immediately tried to hide it by trying to flattening it with my hands.

The same feeling persisted today! This morning I got up early so I could flat twist my hair, but I ran out of time and took them out. Now I'm wearing it puffed out, with a headband so that it's not SO BIG.

I'm over this. I do not want to feel this way about my hair. It's soft, it's healthy, and it wants to stand out. So I'm going to let it. And I'm going to love it.

Thank you guys! I will definitely post pics by either the end of today or tomorrow.

I've been using shea butter and coconut oil alternatively on my hair, always after putting in some Fructis Garnier conditioner in my hair, and sometimes just a hint of their smoothing milk. I'm not exactly clear about the difference...although I think the shea butter leaves my hair softer.

I'm counting the days until my conditioner runs out (I use Herbal's conditioner in the shower) so I can get that conditioner from Trader Joe's that Curly Nikki reviewed!

On another note, my scalp is gross. Sometimes it looks fine, but when I scratch at it, like flakes come off and get stuck in my hair. Ew! I've tried the AVC rinse before, and I hated the smell and I don't think it did anything...though I'd try it again if that were my only choice. I also heard of mixing brown sugar with conditioner and massaging your scalp with it, and it kind of worked...but I still have those flakes when I scratch at my head. Maybe I should get a natural shampoo...I've also heard good things about those shampoo bars....*goes off to do research*

Thanks again guys! I really appreciate the comments.

I actually use shampoo directly on my scalp to cleanse and remove that icky build-up that causes flakes. I put the shampoo on my scalp like you would if your were to grease your scalp. It works great and does strip the oil from my hair.

My hair's not that great today...I keep thinking it'll be so soft by the end of the day, but as it dries it gets really...dry. I think I'm going to deep condition this weekend...it's been nearly two weeks now (bad!)

My hair is feeling the effects of my stress. But don't worry, one more final and it'll be over!

I usually wash my hair everyday, but I decided to stop that because firstly, it's winter and I always leave the house with my hair wet, and two, it's probably unnecessary. So today I didn't wash my hair and I used coconut oil to shape my hair from very, very flat to this:

It's really, really fluffy, but really its the just same as before. I'm pretty pleased.

This weekend I'm definitely looking into protective styling. I want something that I don't have to touch for a whole month - two if I can get that! I must hide my hair from the cold!

Have a great Friday ya'll!

I know I don't have to post today, but I'm going to because today was frustrating.

I originally wanted my hair like this:

BindyMac's Hair - Page 2 N8077110 (found the photo on natural hair on livejournal)

So I tried to do flat twists on one side of my head, and just twist the other. I apparently forgot that
a) I'd only flat twisted my hair once, and it was very, very loose

b) I'd only flat twisted my hair downwards, not upwards.

So it was not a pleasant experience. I was getting so mad at myself that I took a break and then hopped in the shower, washed the product out of my hair, and started again.

In the end, I got this:

BindyMac's Hair - Page 2 Img00013

It like it. I like it alot. I hope I can keep this in for a while, because my poor hair is abused. I may need to cut the ends too.....

So I did do some flat twists...

BindyMac's Hair - Page 2 Img00014 (Again, sorry for the bad quality. Computer camera here)

The flats are very loose, so I pinned them back and I also pinned some twists in the other side of my head.

Oh, I'm so glad the day ended happily! I almost wanted to sleep with my hair half-did. I don't really like doing that - it just drags out all the work I have to do!

BindyMac's Hair - Page 2 Img00015 Flat twists!

And some more pics for fun!

bindymac, I found a style similar to that last night that I want to try too. It looks like it may take a while, this is the time that I wish I had a friend or two that could cornrow or twist.
