Oh, no sis. Not yet. I wish lol We just got back yesterday and we really didn't want to come back.
He will be 9 months on the 9th. I can't BELIEVE IT! In my head I just had him a few weeks ago lol. My pumpkin will be 1 in a matter of months. Its crazy!!MellowOne wrote:

NubieNatty wrote:AL; ur son is such a cutie!!! keep us posted on the blog and ur locs. im so interested in how locs are started when the hair is already long.
i had an inklin to start locs myself...well not now but later on but im so skeptical becuz i know its like havin braids forever and i can only tolerate havin braids for 3 months . the good thing is, i can always grow it and cut it off when i get tired of em so locs MIGHT be on my bucket list
I could sooooo see you with locs. I think they would look beautiful on you. I could never tolerate braids for more than a month but I'm thinking I can handle locs. We shall see how it goes. I just hope that my scalp doesn't go crazy. When I would get braids my scalp would itch like crazy but hopefully I'm past that since I know how to take care of my hair and scalp better now. Anyway, go ahead and add locs to the bucketlist!!

Thank you Winnie! Where have you been? The better question is probably where have I been? I've had to cut back on CN.com for the sake of getting things done that aren't hair related lol. Thank you for the compliment on my little man.

Thank you sis. It means a lot to me. If I could get my hair loc'd today I would. I can't wait either. I think I'm going to set and date to get them done. It'll be later this year.
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
So I figured out my "straight hair" dilemma...somewhat!
1. I can't treat my hair like I did when I was relaxed. Constantly combing it from root to tip doesn't help with maintaining what little bit of kink I have in certain areas.
2. The top of my hair will ALWAYS be straight...there is no helping it.
3. Water is my friend. If I spray my hair with water and let it do what it do it will shrink up beautifully.
4. Stretching my hair after washing should only be done if I plan to two strand twist or flat twist my hair, trim my ends, or do a length check. If I want a fro I can not stretch my hair.

Yesterday was a good hair day and guess who had no digital camera!! MEEE!! Ugh! lol We attended a friends wedding and until she gets back from her honey moon I have nothing to show for it. I flat twisted my hair(of course) lol and then did a twist out. It was twisted differently than I normally so that my hair was hanging more forward and off to the side rather than just off to the side like I normally do. This probably makes no sense lol.I then did 2 two strand flat twist on both sides going up into my twistout. I believe I'm over do for a henna treatment so it will probably get done sometime this week.

Hey AL!! I love the FB profile pic. I can't wait for the wedding pics I want to see this do!!

Sounds like me...great hair and no camera. That's why I love my new phone, LOL. I will be looking forward to those pics
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
I have been rocking the fro as of late and loving it. My only issue is this straight hair at the top of my head that just wants to flop over to the side or front. No amount of water & air drying will get this stuff to curl up. Its so aggravating but I make it work by adding a little texture to it by twisting it beforehand and then spritzing it with water just at the root so it can shrink up a bit. It doesn't solve the problem completely but it helps. I'm supposed to be meeting my sister halfway between here and Fayetteville to get my two nieces for a few days. They miss their auntie and I miss them too. I'll have two heads of hair I can play with now lol
Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
UPDATE: My nieces ditched me to go to the beach with their grandparents lol. Looks like its just me and pumpkin today who EXPLODED(poop) out of his diaper. He's laying on the bed playing with an empty water bottle and I look over at him only to see him rolling around in poop. Mind you, he wears cloth diapers so imagine the mess I had to clean up lol. All in the name of motherhood. The bath called his name and now he is sound asleep and I can work on some business things as soon as I get off CN. com

Boo! and Yuck !
How are cloth diapers working out for you? I want to do that when I have some little tater tots.

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
LOL Yes, it was quite nasty but all in a days work. I love cloth diapers! We have saved so much money by using cloth diapers. I think you and hubby and just as "frugal" as me and mine so yes the economic aspect definitely sold us on it. But I also didn't want to use regular diapers because of how much waste they generate in our landfills and the chemicals that are used in them. It comes with an upfront cost. For the one's we chose it was about $150 for a kit (like 30 diapers, 6 or 8 diaper covers, & disposable liners). We've talked about CDs at great length over on Nappturality in the parenting section if you're interested in seeing what other natural moms have to say. I'm a big pusher of cloth diapers with people that I know who are pregnant so when its you and hubbys time you already know what I'll say lol

I don't know if anyone is more frugal than me, LOL.
My mom used cloth diapers on me so I have close advice. I didn't even think about the landfill part but that is a great reason to use cloth diapers. The hubby and I talked about getting disposable for traveling and babysitters. Other than that - I really want cloth. Thanks for the feedback. I will check out that post. (I haven't been to Nappturality in over a year! lol)

Re: AfrikanLatina ☥ It's A...
Hey Pinkrage...thanks for checking up on me. So sweet. Things are well. LOL I may have the same issue of wanting to do something all the time. Especially while its nice out. I want to get my son out and involved in so much and he's not even 1 yet lol. There just isn't a lot to do here in Winston Salem culturally. That is one of the reasons we chose to move to Atlanta.
Hair News: Rocking 2 two strand flat twists, one on each side of my head until its time to head out a little later to see a friend. I've been consistently applying castor oil to my edges for the past week in hopes of seeing some more progress within the next couple of months. I'm going to try to keep this up...wish me luck.

Hey Sweet & Shee!
I found my first split end the other day and I destroyed it lol. I think its time for a trim. My sister and my nieces are finally coming this weekend so I think I'll have her do it for me. She was always my hairdresser when we were younger. Now I'll just have to give her a few tips on how to work with my hair in its natural state.
Life is good and I feel so blessed. Today is my grannys birthday and even though we couldn't go home to celebrate with her we gave her a call and that made her day. We really need to get home to spend more time with both her and my grandpa before we move this summer. They both aren't in the best of health but are some two of the strongest individuals I know. I definitely get my feistyness from my granny lol. Happy Birthday Granny!
Just thought I'd share some pics of my big boy...we're enjoying this weather in the backyard
