Keep Twists from Unraveling Empty Keep Twists from Unraveling

Post by Deva_87 21st May 2010, 1:41 am

So i finally think that my hair is long enough to do twists. I just have a problem with them unraveling or they just dont come out right. does anyone have some suggestions on how to achieve this?

Try using something with hold like a butter or adding a little gel to give it hold.

I don't think you need blow out your hair to do twists. Try just picking your hair out a little in order to some stretch. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You can twist your hair while its wet then when its dry you can redo the twists. Your hair will be stretched when you redo them.

Deva_87,

Since you just BC'd in April, your hair may be too short to hold a twist. I wasn't able to successfully twist mine until probably about 3 or 4 months after my big chop. When I do twist mine, I use either Jamaican Mango and Lime Loc and Twist gel (my cheap product), or Ms. Jessie's Curly Meringue (my expensive product). And then, I have to re-twist every night in order to maintain the definition. I hope this helps.

@curlybarbi48 yes Jamaican Mango and Lime Loc and Twist gel is a great product and its not expensive at all. I used to use it on my fiancee dreads. I never used it on my hair because I never thought about it. He has since cut off his dreads and we still have products left. I have to use that because Lord knows I can not do a twist out to save my life.

My twists unravel. I just let them be. At times I will redo them but most times I just let them be. You cannot tell the difference between the twists and "twist out" twists, lol.

You may need to do your twist smaller. What size twist are you doing?

I blew my hair out a bit to stretch it and then i twisted it. I have about 5 inches of hair so i thought that would be enough to do mini twist but they didnt come out how i like them. but the twist out came out nice. i guess i will stick to wash n gos for a while longer

I put clips at the top of every twist to keep them from unraveling. The small 2 prong clips.
