I like to mix dye-released henna in my conditioner too. Also, a bit of oil. It works really well! I still get my 5 grays covered and an extra special conditioner treatment!
Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
If you're trying to baby step into henna-a gloss is the way to go. It's easier to rinse out too.

Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
I agree with Freckledmom. Try a simple henna gloss first. I gave it a try and I really liked it. Easy to rinse out and my hair felt super conditioned. I posted vids on my channel about it.
Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
The gloss is the way to go! That's the only way I've done my henna and I was able to rinse it out easily!!

Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
ok I just read CG journal and maybe its not as short of a process as i thought. she has more hair than me so maybe mine will not be that long. HMMMMM, is 3 hours long enuff time to leave it in? Maybe this is a saturday project.
OK question, what makes the color release?

Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
An acidic liquid makes the dye release (Lemon or orange juice, green tea, acv., coconut milk). I've only used coconut milk & green tea. The color was not as bright when I used coconut milk. How long it takes depends on the brand of henna. With Jamila '09 I have been able to get a stain on my hand after about an hour. Be sure to wear gloves-btw. Most of the posts I've read say to leave it on for 4 hrs, but it's up to you. You can try for 3 and then go longer the next time. Happy henna'ing!

Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet
Man being a grown up is hard! I ran across this verse and i just wanted to share.
For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, "do not fear, I will help you.
The person who gave this to me this morning is a woman who is my senior and she always gives me encouraging words. It was left on my desk this morning, I promise I needed to hear that.

Yeah, Crissy hindsight is 20/20. If I knew back then what I know now I wouldn't have been in such a rush to grow up. I love it when the LORD uses people too remind us of His eternal love. Stay encouraged.

Hey Crissy! Just dropping by! Although I've been on FB, I haven't been on CN as much . I just get on FB, play games and have mindless chatter. Not sure why I think I have to wax philosophical here. LOL! Oh well, love that scripture. Planning to borrow it.
Re: crissyQ farewell to curlstreet

You're gonna do the cassia and then gonna want more and end up doing the henna!!! What if you mix the two and see how you like it??
I sound like a drug dealer trying to push my "product" on you!

Yup, 5! But they're all in one spot. All of my family on my mom's side gets this one shard of gray or white hair at the hair line. Think Rogue from the X-Men. Once it starts coming in, it just won't quit and mine has started! So, I just henna it. I figure once it all starts turning, I'll have that red hair I always wanted. I used to get red highlights in my braids when I was younger. Always brightened my face up.
