Hey BS, I love, love the new avi. Just a qiuck update on whats new with me. I bought te glycerine and have been using it as a spritz, and a made a shea mix. I like the both of them, my hair is softer and I am not sure which one is doing the trick. Maybe I should try them alone huh? well thats it for me, what have you tried new?

Hey girl,

Thank you! Yes to see which one is making your hair soft I would use one by itself to see which is causing the softness. Use the shea mix without using the spritz and then try the spritz without the sheamix. They could both add a level of softness on their own but test them separately to find out.

I bought some more Aloe Vera Gel and I made a new shealoe mixture Saturday and tried it on few of my plaits today so I will see tomorrow how those turned out and to see if they feel moisturized. I will try this in some type of spritz this week also.

It could be frizz and a lack of moisture on that part of your hair or it could also be the texture of your hair in that area. The left side of my hair by my ear is like this. It was very noticeable when my hair was shorter in my twa stage. No matter how much product I put on that part of my hair it always looked fuzzy. Now as my hair grew out it wasn't as noticeable but its the part of my hair that frizzes up first.

I would add moisture to see if that helps calm it down some. But as I mentioned it may be the texture of your hair in that area.

No don't cut it! You could have different textures on your hair. Just add moisture to see if that helps.

Which Burt's bees shampoo do you have? I was looking at the ingredients and most of them have coco-betaine which is a mild sulfate but is not as harsh or irritating as the other sulfates. When I'm trying to remove build up I usually look for a shampoo with coco- betaine in the ingredients becaue its not as harsh as the others. It will remove the buildup that you have.

The shampoo that you still have from when you had your relaxer more than likely has the harsher sulfates in it which will really dry your hair out.
If you don't want to buy anything else I would go with the Burt's bees but make sure you prepoo your hair before you shampoo.

Pre-pooing is adding oils to your hair and scalp to prevent the shampoo from drying your hair out. You add the oil and cover your hair with a plastic bag or cap and you can leave it on from 30 minutes to an hour. Some people even do an overnight pre-poo

Don't worry about the questions :-) Shampoo your hair while the oil is still in your hair.

I do pay attention to the ingredients in my products but I don't consider myself to be CG. I tried it but it didn't work for me. I tried to only co-wash and not use shampoo but I had too much buildup and my hair just didn't feel right.

The only ingredient I really stay away from is petroleum jelly. I haven't had an issue with cones and I have a couple of products which contain mineral oil but I rarely use them. I just know if I do I will have to clarify with a shampoo. When I shampoo I try to find one that has a milder sulfate so that it won't dry my hair out. Were you thinking of trying the CG method?

Umm, IDK. I cant stand the fact of not shampooing LOL. I do not use petroleum or mineral oil. I just bought some hawaiian silky and that does have MO in it. I am not an ingredients guru, I will try anything that will give me great results. I just bought some Tresseme flawless curls conditioner and it had my hair soft last night. When I spritz this morning and applied just a little more, once it dried its a little crunchy. What is this layer technique i hear people talking about?

As long as you are shampooing the MO in the Hawaiian Silky shouldn't be a problem. I say keep doing what you're doing if it works for you. I have that Tresemme conditioner also and I really like it. Try to add a little oil to it the next time to get rid of the crunch. You can mix the oil and conditioner together in your hands and apply to your hair

The layering technique is first using a water based leave in which can be a conditioner or leave-in in which water is the first ingredient, then apply oil to help seal in the moisture in your hair and the final step is using a creamy moisturizer before styling which can be conditioner or regular creamy moisturizer. Its basically making sure your hair is moisturized and retaining moisture.

NEED A BIG SISTER - Page 2 Empty Re: NEED A BIG SISTER

Post by krazy coils 29th June 2010, 3:55 pm

Hey girl,

I did not trim my twa because I couldn't see what to trim (lol). The first time I trimmed was in February when I reached my six month natural mark and I trimmed the ends while my hair was in twists. It was long enough for me to see it by then. Everybody's hair is different but if you're not putting any direct heat or color on your hair you should be good with just trimming the ends every five or six months. Some people do it every three but if you want to see growth you have to stretch the trims out.

I was telling DVA that I use AVG mixed with oil to pre-poo because she wanted to find another way to use it. I just started doing this I mix it with an oil and apply it to my hair, cover with a plastic bag and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour then shampoo my hair. AVG is supposed to moisturize and I read it also helps with shedding.

I do have color in my hair, and once it grows out, i am not using dye. I got my hair trimmed last in march, that is when I cut all the perm out.

how did your hair like the mixture?

You know what when i do my coils my hair is softer. I used the tresseme flawless curls, evoo, castor oil and jojoba oil to do my coils. When i use the same mixture for a wash and go, i get diffrent results.

I did use Giovanni smooth as silk this morning as a leave in, maybe thats a no-no? IDK girl this is driving me crazy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . I am going to do a deep conditioner tonight, I usually use EVOO and YTC. Do you suggest anything else?

Post by krazy coils 6th July 2010, 12:24 pm

Wash n go's are tricky because sometimes your hair will dry hard and crunchy and sometimes you can elimate the crunch. The giovanni smooth as silk does have protein so it may not work as a leave-in. Its good as a co-wash and deep conditioner but because of the protein you want to be careful when you leave it in.

Did you add any oil to the Giovanni when you left it in this morning? Oil will help eliminate the crunch with a wash n go. I've been adding oils to my deep conditioners also so the EVOO and the YTC sounds good.
