Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
Hey everyone! I'm currently in my 6th month post relaxer and my staple styles have been buns mostly and twist-outs which I love. Recently I've been able to get 4th day hair out of my twist outs [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Here's some pics of one of my twist-outs from this month

Tatertotz, Your hair is gorgeous. What do you use for your twist outs?

Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
Thanks JMP82! For this twist out I washed with HEHH 2n1, conditioned with HEHH + Olive Oil, used Cantu Shea as a Leave-in and Organix coconut anti breakage serum to seal. This combo leaves my hair so soft ! I was able to comb and re-twist my hair each night easily to help the style last

I'm 6 months into my transition as of yesterday!!!! I can't believe its been half a year. I think I got my first relaxer at age 5 or 6 and since then I have never gone this long without a relaxer!

How do you get your ends to curl with your twist outs? I've done twists on my hair before, but the relaxed ends are always stick straight and not cute at all.

After sealing and two-starnd twisting my hair, I wrap each twist into a bantu knot and make sure to secure the ends around the knot so they can curl up. You can also try perm rods or flexi-rods on ends to curl them.

@transitioning?
Thanks! I planned on transitioning for a year but I don't think I could handle getting rid of so much length in one big chop, so I'm doing two mini chops. My first mini chop will hopefully be in January (1 year post relaxer) and the final one will be 6 months later. Next summer I should be completely natural!!!!!

Thats good that you have a plan. I just hit seven months and have no idea when to cut it. But if i don't hide it in braids or something I feel that I will cut it soon.

I know, I'm kind of in the same situation. I'm starting to get the itch to BC and am excited to see my natural hair alone, but still holding back a little.
My name's Trisha, btw. I'm a college student and I've been transitioning since the middle of December 2009 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Goodies, it's like any other anniversary. For example, if your last relaxer was January 1st, then you would be 6 months post on July 1st.

Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
My last relaxer was 02/07/2010. I haven't really ran into a lot of problems with my hair thus far, THANK GOD!! I am loving the HE Hello Hydration and Aussie Moist mixed with EVOO as leave-ins, and I have been doing A LOT of deep conditioning. Right now I am using Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing Pak. Sadly I have not tried any styles yet (twist outs, braid outs). I am transitioning out of an assymetrical bob and I want to try to allow the back of my hair to grow out. Currently I have been sporting sew-ins, which I love, but I also allow my hair to rest for a couple of weeks by rocking a pony. I am new to the boards and welcome all the information I can get and also inspiration. I am looking forward to henna-ing real soon!! I am very excited to be on this journey and I have even convinced my sister to transition also!! As I get more and more new growth I marvel at my curls and appreciate the new and improved me!! Also if anyone can tell me why my pictures look like this let me know, because I have no idea!! LOL

Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
I am 6 months 3 weeks post relaxer. I really want to bc, but my parents don't want me to be bald (which I won't [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ). I keep telling them that I will have more styling options with my 2"-3" new growth, but nooooooo....... they have to be difficult [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I plan on putting henna in my hair in a few weeks and see how that will blend my 2 textures after that. If that works, I will henna probably every 3 weeks...Hopefully with a looser curl pattern my hair will show more length and be apt for more growth!

Last night into this morning my friend put seneglese twists in my hair so i'll be rocking these for about 2 months. I bought the juices and berries by oyin moisturizer to keep my hair moisturized. its my first time ever having extensions in for such a long period of time! we'll see how this goes!

Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
Wow Can't believe it's been six months already! I am enjoying this journey. In August I took down my Senegalese twists and had some amazing growth. I've been itching to chop off a few pieces to see what I have. I can pretty much tell that I have at least three different textures on my head already. Seriously. Bantu knot outs, TNCs, ponytail with ends tucked, and roller sets have been my staple styles. I wish Bantus didn't take so friggin long to dry!

A newbie transitioner
Hello everyone,
I need a lot of help. I have not had a relaxer since the winter season. I am really excited about transitioning to my natural hair, but I am not good at styling my hair and I am not ready for the BC either. I have tried braiding or some call it platting my when wet and letting it dry. Which I really like doing but after one wear of the unbraided crinkle hairstyle, I have a bush. This is a lot of hair for someone who is not familiar with styling it. I can honestly say although I get a little overwhelmed I have embraced the new growth of my natural hair. I am just looking for easy styles I can wear to work and church. I am about to use my instyler to tame my mane because I don't know what to do with it right now. I would like to get it in cornrows, but right now it is not within my budget. Looking to do it in the future though. Any suggestions and tips for styling would be helpful. Oh don't forget, I don't know how to style my hair...I always get someone to style it for me. Please take baby steps for this newbie. Thanks.

Re: 6 Months Post Relaxer
chasev3, I was the exact same way that you are when I started my transition in April. I went to the beauty shop to get my hair done, although sometimes I did wash and style my hair at home at flat iron it. How about a simple bun? It's easy, it's a protective style, and you can jazz it up.
