Hi Big Sisters,

I'm looking for a big sister, who doesn't mind a little sister from London.

I transitioned from relaxed hair, which had been relaxed since i was 9! I didn't do the BC but my hair hasn't grown much longer. So December was the last time I wore my hair continuously straight. I know pull it back for work, but need to find a really good gel [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . Come Friday evening, I wash it and rock my curls for the weekend! Lots of help and advice wanted for styles and maintaining my ends!

One of the questions i have at the moment is what is the best type of gel to use for slicking my curls back into a ponytail and what is the best brush for smoothing?

I would say any gel free of silicones (look for ingredients ending in -one, -ane). If they end in those, you would want to stay away from if you would like your hair to flourish. Drugstore brands many use and I have used are Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel, Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel, 100% pure organic aloe vera gel, LA Looks gel, IC Fantasia gel and Eco Styler gel. When putting hair in ponytail, try to dampen first to eliminate the use of too much gel. You can tie a scarf on hair for few minutes to allow it to set.

As far as brushes, I would suggest a toothbrush for your edges. For the length of your hair, try a wide paddle brush with long wide spaced bristles. Some like natural hair bristles others prefer plastic. The choice is yours.
