I really didn't go through an odd phase. I only wear wngs, but I loved each length stage, it was always something new.

@ hdthomas, is that a twisted mohawk? I like it on your lenghth, mine not so much.
@ Lynnieluv, your av doesn't look like an odd phase at all. Work it !!!!
@ Kuh-ree, keep at those twist, I've read practice makes perfect
Now, I am finally getting around to posting pics. Lately I have masted the twisted puff and I am loving it:

So last night I tried to do a chunky twistout in the back. What a mess!!!!

It looks cute from the front though:

Any ideas on how to get a more defined twist out on this 3c/4a/4b hair of mine. Maybe it's just too short for what I was going for...huh.

Re: TWA odd phase style photos
I am my own worst critique. So I zoomed in on the twist out pic after I loaded.....and it doesn't look as bad as my mirror at home said it did. I guess it sort of an unorganized curly fro.

What product did you use to do the twist out? The key to a great twist out is the right product and small twist at your length.
My hair is losing it's 'fro shape. The sides and the back are growing down and the top is still growing up and out so I have to work a little harder to get the "right look"

My twistout product is more of a concoction. It is my shea mix (sheabutter, coconut oil, castor oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, glycerin, and Vit E) mixed with IC Fantasia gel. I wanted to go for the chunky look, but still got a fro. So I guess chunky is going to have to wait.
Re: TWA odd phase style photos
I like your chunky puff......but if you want more definition, you have to do the twist smaller so you won't have to separate them as much (not disrupting the definition)

I've been wearing a twistout for a while. Ignore the "I don't want to be at work" look on my face.

@Lynnie, LOL, yes. I have a pillow and a blanket. I will close my door and take a nap if need be!
@Nhappy and Natural, I did the big chop in May of 2009 (about 10 months natural). Here are the pics of my journey and my youtube video journey.

Re: TWA odd phase style photos
Hey ladies,
Just wanted to post some pics of my sculpted fro. Basically I just cowash, tshirt dry, added some leave-in, added some shea butter, pik'd my hair out a bit (I hadn't combed it since Jan), then used my fingers to part my hair on one side and patted into shape.
