Photos of your big chop
Hey guys, I plan on doing the BC soon. I'm about 4.5 months post relaxer now and wondering if I should transition another month.
SO! Please post photos of you after your BC and include how many months post relaxer you were at the time. Thanks!

I would love to see more pics as well, I plan to do the BC in May and have transitioned for 4 months so far. Im itching to do it now but the cold weather here in the midwest is a reality...I think it will be easier to experiment once it warms up with wash n gos etc.

Lynnieluve how is your hair styled in your avator? It is really cute.

Re: Photos of your big chop
I have not really looked for a natural hair salon. My current hairdresser does have some natural clients and is supportive of me going natural. To be honest I plan to take care of my own hair once I transition. I do know of one stylist, his name is Thierry Baptiste he specializes in natural hair and is Indy. I have a friend who has been natural for 3 years and she has been to him. His web site is http://www.thierrybaptiste.com/. I had my last perm in September and plan to BC in May or June. Good luck with your hair. I will look for you on this thread so we can stay in touch.

Re: Photos of your big chop
Our time line is about the same, wow! My last relaxer was in October and I plan to BC in either May or June which would take me to about 7-8 months post relaxer.
Do you have any pics of your growth?
Heres a recent pic of my new growth:

Re: Photos of your big chop
I don't have any pictures. I have been transitioning with a curly weave that is pretty, but driving me crazy because I do not like weave. As you can see in my picture my hair was pretty short. To be honest if it was summer I would probably BC now but as you pointed out it is freezing here. I did have my weave taken out last week and got a deep conditioner and alot of the perm cut of the top. The back and sides of my hair are all natural. Hmmmmmmm I don't know what to say about my new growth other than it is interesting. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] You have alot of new growth. Do you know what products you are going to use when you BC? I am looking at Kinky Curly and Oyin Products. I think I have 4a 4b hair. Do you ever come to Indy? I never see people on the boards from Indiana. I went to ATL last week for business and saw tons of girls with natural hair. I stopped a few and they were really helpful and supportive

Re: Photos of your big chop
Same here! I'm itching to do a BC now, but I plan to wait till spring so that I don't catch pneumonia! First week in February I'm having my hair braided so I can keep my hands out of it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .
Ive started using natural products in my hair already and love Giovanni shampoos and conditioners. I also tried the Organix line and liked those as well. A friend of mine is a 4a/4b and tried the KCCC without much success so I dont think that I'll use it based on the cost. Ive started making my own shea butter mix (shea butter, evoo, tea tree oil and coconut oil) and love the way it feels in my daughters natural hair, but not so much on my relaxed ends..its a bit heavy, but once I remove the relaxed ends I'm sure it will become one of my staples.
Not many naturals up this way either and most of my friends here don't understand why I'm going natural, but the few that support me are the greatest. My husband is okay with it but would prefer for me to transition long term, we're gonna have to compromise on this because I cant take it any longer

Re: Photos of your big chop
All of my friends are supportive, although it could be because I am a little older than you [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] (42) and by then you are over the hair thing. My husband is also supportive but he is tired of the weaves. Actually my mother was the main one who looked at me like I was crazy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . My 13 year old son also seemed a bit worried that I was going to look "Crazy" as he put it. He is 13 and doesn't like anything so I ignore him LOL I go back and forth from being excited to nervous. There are so many products to choose from and so many opinions. I have come to the conclusion that you just have to try different products once you BC to see what works for your hair. Some of the products are really expensive(Kinky Curly) so you are hesitant to try some of them. How often do you come to Indy? I travel to Chicago off an on to shop and get away from Indy. Maybe we can find more naturals in our areas.

Its been a while since Ive been to Indy. I visited a lot when my best friend lived there but not as much now. I wouldnt mind heading down for a natural hair GTG though so maybe we can plan something [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The Chicago curlies just hosted one recently that I couldnt make but hope to get to the next one, maybe you can come up for that as well.
