I used indigo to get rid of an auburn color that started to grow out after my big chop. From what I've read, if you don't use henna first the indigo won't bind to your hair so it won't last very long. It will wash out after a while, kind of like a rinse I think. I first used indigo about a year ago and my hair is still jet black! It's not as dark as it originally was, but still dark. I'll probably henna followed by indigo again in the next few months! Hope that helps...anymore questions let me know! I'm by no means an expert but I've used indigo 3-4 times with success!

My Henna Mix:
-200 Grams of Henna for African Hair

-4-6 Oranges (Juiced and Strained)
-2 Tbsp of Water

followed by...
My Indigo Mix:
-200 Grams of Indigo
-1 tsp of salt
-Water (to make into yogurt consistency)

No...you CAN mix your henna and indigo, but depending on the amount of henna added you may only be able to acheive a dark brown. Again, I'm no expert but I separate my henna and indigo to ensure I get the darkest black possible!
