Hi, im still pretty new here myself but i can try to help a little. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Yes, your hair will get EXTREMELY dry after the bc. It might be your shampoo and conditioner (as a curly, there are certain ingredients that we should avoid to keep moisure in our hair) check out this article: http://www.curlynikki.com/2009/11/cg-method-and-natural-hair.html. Your hair also just might not act the same way it did to products youve used before. You can go to the Products forum to see what other naturals like to use to keep their hair soft and moisturized. Before you do put in braids, try to take a few weeks to see what your hair likes and dislikes. This will help in the long run. Heres a video CurlyNikki posted a few days ago and i think it might help

Your welcome and yes, thats the hard part about going natural. Every ones hair is different so you dont really know what to use. I still dont quite know what my hair likes yet and i think i cut my hair a month ago. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I do know that it hate oils and loves creams though. I was thinking about getting braids too but id much rather figure my hair out now, that way itll be the healthiest it can be by the time it gets some length. Besides, if my product already dont work for my hair i wondered how braids would affect it. Anywho, i wish you the best no matter what your decision.

Re: newbies to the natural world Help
hey woman, how is it going? congrat on your win. i did do my braid but i have researched so much i can write a book. my hair loves oil, i have come to find out but not just any type, i think coconut oil works best for my hair and cream wise i havent figure that out yet. im taking out my weave april ending and i will try to finish all my old product then buy the staple product that i hope will work fo rmy hair. im going to try devacare one conditioner and aubrey aorganic. then i will make sure i deep condition weekly because my hair is prone to dryness. so i think if i DT/with heat evry week, it will help to keep in the moisture so u cna check out this product and see if your hair will like it. the devacare conditioner is suppose to be for damage hair so it should be loaded with lots of moisutre hopefully. i will keep my fingers cross. thanks
