Waiting for that Big Hair!!
Hiya Girls!!
I have been an inactive member of this wonderful forum for months now and added my first post today so thought I should introduce myself.
Having had my hair relaxed from the age of 4 (my mum thinks) I had no idea what my real texture was like. I have always wanted BIG natural hair and started contemplating going natural about 2 years ago. I had no idea where to start so it sat on the back burner for a while. Until I went onto YouTube last year and WOW I entered a new dimension; you guys know what it's like.
My last relaxer was in May and in August I cut off all but 2-3 inches of hair. I transitioned with various styles, and probably flat ironed one too many times (knew nothing of heat damage at this time). I wanted to enter 2011 as a natural and ended up bc'ing on November 23rd. My first reaction was to laugh but I really liked it, until I woke up the next morning to find 90% of shrinkage!! Pause, breathe, it's cool. There was nothing to do other than to embrace it. I was however not ready for what others would have to say (other than close friends) and wore hats for a couple of weeks (it's winter here in the UK so no one thought anything about it).

I have since probably cut of an additional inch of hair. At first it was to get rid of relaxed ends, or what I thought were relaxed ends before realising that some of my hair grows somewhat straight!! Then I had to attack those SSKs, thought I could do the whole Wash and Go thing. Yea unfortunately not for me. Defining curls with gel, HA my hair had none of it. I now just style my hair in twists and twisted out.
Fist Twist Out

I'm loving the journey so far and can't wait for that big hair, I will be sure to let you guys know when I get there.
Stay Blessed xoxo
