Post by LoveBeauty821 5th January 2011, 10:31 pm

Hi ladies,
I just recently bc'd on Jan 3, 2010 and I am experiencing some major dryness. I moisturize my hair in the morning with Cantu Shea Butter Leave in, and I use EVOO to seal it in. After i use the EVOO I use IC Fantasia styling gel....but by the afternoon my hair is completely dry!!! Am i doing something wrong?!?

Have you been spritzing your hair throughout the day? I know that I can experience dry scalp. So I made a spritz containing condish, coconut oil, avocado oil, and water mixed it. I then spritz it everyone once in a while when it feels a lil dry. Hope this helps

also remember water is your friend.

Hi and Welcome...I agree with Strawberri, why do you use the gel? for definition or hold because maybe u should not use it for a little bit..

And like Ray mentioned, try deep conditioning, an see if that helps Smile

Experimenting is the Experience, so Enjoy flower

Adding to that, most new naturals experience some crazy dryness post-BC. It should settle down in a couple of weeks. I had dryyyyyyyy hair for almost 2 weeks before my hair starting settling down. It is very important to moisturize and deep condition your hair. Also, your hair may not like the Shea butter for that matter. There are a few of us here that have hair that turns to straw once shea touches it.

Btw, I love the confidence that you're showing with your twa. Work it!

Thanks you ladies for your input!!!! I really appreciate it. @ rayray I deep condition my hair every week. How often should I? And I am going to lay off the gel for now.
@ fleur thank you!!! I can't wait until my hair looks like yours Smile

This is why I love this forum! Everyone is so helpful! The best thing they said was water is your best friend! I spray my hair in the morning and when I get home in the evening. If I am not going out after I spray I put a plastic bag on my head. I did that for a week and I think I have conquered the dreaded BC dryness. (this is my 2nd BC)

Welcome, Happy New Year

Check to see if the Cantu has any silicones in it. If it does you could be Trapping out your moisture.
