Protective Styling - What Can I DO??

Ladies, in a nutshell, I have thin, fine extremely soft hair. I've been wearing a weave for two months (wore one style one month, took it down, did a DC and put in another style the next day and just took it down last night after a little over a month) and I shed SO much hair last night!

I'm trying to find some protective styles that will look good for the office, but that will keep my hair tucked away. I can't wear twists to work (won't work in my environment and with my hair being thin, it looks "scalpy" and very much Miss Celie like).

I notice a lot of people bun their hair or wear two-strand twists to protect their hair, but I don't have that much length and again - twists at work won't work for me.

I'm kinda at a loss - please help me!

Girl, my hair is in the "in-between" zone. I can't bun it and I am not comfortable with twists. I just bought some cute wigs.

What i do for protective styling is I twist/flat twist the front of my hair and do medium sized 2 strand twist the rest of my hair and put in in a stocking cap and throw on a half curly wig. That way I can take it off when i get home and don't mess with my hair as much. here a pic. and it is easy to maintain.

lol - I guess I'm going wig shopping at some point. I can't flat twist or braid my own hair, so I may have to sweet talk my little sister. npmoore - so, you twist the front of your hair and hide the rest under the wig cap and the wig goes on over that? Does it look or feel "bulky?" It sounds like it would, but it's very pretty and neat looking in your avatar.

Your hair looks really good.

NPMoore04 that half wig looks pretty on you. Did you get it from the bss or online? I may try going back to my half wigs when my hubby gets home from deployment but they always hurt my head and have me snatching that thing off no matter where I am.

Right now I am also in that in between hair length stage as well. Anyway, I made a phony pony bun using some hair from an old half wig that matches my natural hair texture. I was insprired by a tutorial on here about how to make a bun using synthetic hair, and I love the fact that it does not take very long and I can still take care of my hair.

I also think that half wigs are a great option since you will still have access to your natural har.

this is really cute!!! maybe I can try this because i only have 2.5" of hair

@ BlakButterfli, have you thought about a phony pony? Your hair looks long enough. That will probably be my next go to style now that my hair is long enough to fit into a puff. From the description you gave about your hair, it sounds the same as mine. But I have been doing yarn braids and now I have an updo twist style. I'm ready for something new and as soon as I find a cute pony tail, I'm going for it (Only if I can figure out a way to cover this big forehead!! Lol)

Sorry I didn't get the notifications. It does not look or feel bulky when you do a curly half wig because of the volume of the curls. half wigs usually come with combs in the front and back but when I don't use the combs I just put bobby pins in. I got it from my local bss store for $23. this one is called latosha by outre. I've see it cheaper on various site but i wanted to feel the curls and i just finger it to get it bigger. very easy to maintain. and it does't shed.

don't use the combs use bobby pins instead my head is sort big so for wigs that are to tight when i use the cobs i secure with large bobby pins.
