break outs w glycerine???
I have been natural about 6 months and "I'm Lovin it"...to the mcdonalds tune lol!
I have my routine and it works well for me, it includes vegetable glycerine but it's BREAKING me out!!! I noticed recently that I have ugly ugly zits along the sides of my face and hair line which is where the water and my concoction runs down my face.....
what can i do? I love the glycerine but I CANNOT deal with breakouts !!!!!

Re: break outs w glycerine???
I use glycerin and other humectants throughout the year without a problem as many other naturals do. If your hair tolerates it without the drying side effect in the colder months, please continue. Now, my suggestion is that you may be using too much of the product. Sliding down the side of your face is a sign of over usage. Face breakouts happened to me early last year with scalp oils. I scaled back on the amount and thoroughly massaged the oil into my scalp and the problem corrected itself. It's just a suggestion, but I'd say fall back a little on the amount used to treat your hair.

I had breakout with glycerin as well. I think I'm allergic to aloe and coconut oil. Both gave me serious hives.

I live in Houston too, please be careful with the glycerine as far as the hair is concerned. Although we do not have the same type of "Winter" as up North or the East Coast. Yes the temp varies, but its th the moisture levels (dewpoint) that you have to pay attention too; it fluctuate (sp) too much. It plays havoc on my hair (my ends) to be exact. I had to give up the glycerine, I use honey only and then only in my deep conditioner. I won't use honey in my spray bottle until April or May.
