Conditioner Only Method
For Christmas, I decided to experiment and do the Tightly Curly method or the Conditioner only method. I did it Christmas eve on my hair and my daughters hair. I had my hair in twists and I cowashed them and left them twisted. I smooshed condish into the twist and then unraveled them. I then smoothed each twist with more conditioner. I am on day three with the condish only method and my hair is still soft and moisturized. I slept with it loose the first night and then I braided it in 6 big twist last night to keep the form. Here are some pictures.
The picture below is day 2 of the conditioner only method.

The pic below is day three on condish only. Still moisturized and not crunchy! I did not fluff or shake it becuase I did not leave the house today but it could have looked better!

Re: Conditioner Only Method
All of you have beautiful hair! I believe that it's as soft as it looks. I love posts like this. Kudos for experimenting and showing that you don't need to pile on so many products in order to look polished and fly. I'm going to try it for my girls. Great job!!

This was weird I was only able to see the pictures after posting my question.
Beautiful pictures... When you smoothed with more conditioner did you let your hair dry or did you do something else

Re: Conditioner Only Method
OMG,.....have I found a new hair crush???? LOL Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! And like CurlyTee I'd like to know if that's all you did. Did you let the condish dry before you took the twists out??? that is just too pretty. Your hair looks so healthy!!!!!

I let it air dry. It too FOREVER (ok...like 4 hours) but I was trying not to touch it. It was hard to keep my WHen I took the twists down and put more condish on the unraveled twist, some of the twists wanted to separate so I let them separate and be its own little clump.

This was the first time I tried it and I PILED the conditioner on. I used the cheapo SKALA that I bought a truckload of from Biglots. I used the pink bottle that said for damaged hair. It was not very thick like I wanted it to be but evidently it worked out for my hair. I was going to use my Giovanni 50:50 but I do not like the way it smells and I could not stand smelling that fragrance for 3 to 5 days.
Re: Conditioner Only Method
Hello and thank you! Seriously, all I did was put conditioner in it. No Vatika, no other leave-in. But I did do a henna treatment about 2 weeks ago which added to the shine factor I am sure. I did not let the conditioner dry before I took the twist down. The reason why I put condish in while it was twisted, was so that it would stay moisturized while I smoothed condish into the intwisted hair. I did not twirl my hair or what teri calls "doodle". I untwisted the conditioned twist, then I smoothed more condish on top of the untwisted hair. I do not have a curl pattern do that is why I used an old two strand twist to experiment on since my hair was already clumped. I am trippin'! My hair feels great and more importantly, it is not dry feeling or crunchy. I am going to do a video on this but I am still experimenting. Wow, all I need is a bottle of cheap conditioner and my hair look fab. Who knew! lol. I am too scared to try it on freshly washed hair but for the sake of science and hair, I will do it. Probably Friday.misskris wrote:OMG,.....have I found a new hair crush???? LOL Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! And like CurlyTee I'd like to know if that's all you did. DM your hair is gorgeous!! and tht little angel!!! is simply that an Angel! simply beautiful!!
Re: Conditioner Only Method
I wanted the "curls" to be more defined than that so I am going to use a different conditioner. Thank you ladies for the great compliments. It makes me want to keep experimenting! I may need a heavier conditioner. I also forgot to add that I did an amla treatment before I did the conditioner only method. I think that is why I got the added shine and moisture.
Re: Conditioner Only Method

Thank you. But it is not looking too good for day 5 hair. There is no more definition but it is still feeling moisturized.
Re: Conditioner Only Method
My sis is natural and has always kept her conditioner in. I've done it twice for twistouts and knot outs and my hair soft. I was having troubles with dryness once the weather dropped and now things are much better. Will definitely keep doing this.

I have her book but I almost feel like I can't do anything until I am fully natural. She did say not to use that method when transitioning. She does not DC with the method either.. I can't remember the last time she said she DC'd..
You hair is beautiful and your daughter is such a cutie.. I love the pic with her eating and looking around..

Nope...in fact I have less breakage when I washed. My hair is still short though (3-5in) depending on where in my head.
