Wild Growth Vs. Carol's Daughter's Hair Elixir/Do Weaves hurt hair growth progress? Empty Wild Growth Vs. Carol's Daughter's Hair Elixir/Do Weaves hurt hair growth progress?

Post by photobscura 27th October 2010, 3:15 pm

I just recently took my hair out of a weave and feel like nothing grew while it was in there! I'm thinking of trying wild growth hair oil or carol's daughter's hair elixir. If I use both will it be over kill? Does anyone have one they think works better than the other?

Also, can weaves be damaging to natural hair?

I haven't used wild growth hair oil but I have used carol's daughter hair elixir - it did nothing for me except emit a strong smell all the time.

I'm SOOO with you, photobscura! I just took a weave out and any growth that I was so excited to see all went down the drain. I guess that was all hair that I would have shed, but GEEZ - it looked like someone had scalped a child in my bathroom. I'm VERY discouraged this morning. My hair is very soft and fine and on the thinner side - genetics I guess - and it's just not growing. I thought the weave would give it a break, but I just don't know anymore. And protective styling - twists for example - don't work for me, because I can't go to work with twists in my hair. They look bad anyway, because my hair is thin and all of my scalp shows.

I'm going to try and get back to using the Wild Growth Hair Oil I have under my sink and see what happens. I"m seriously just considering relaxing it again. I can't take this non-growth. At least if it's straight I can style it.

Oh - to answer your question - LOL - I've never use the Carol's Daughters product, but have heard good things about it. I'm going to take some photos tonight and document how the Wild Growth Hair Oil works.

I've used the carol's daughter's hair elixir way a while back and it worked for my hair. But then my sisters and mom also used it so before I knew it, it was long gone lol. I've never used wild growth hair oil though.

I just took out a weave as well and I knew my hair grew but it doesn't feel like it because I also shed a lot of hair. Or maybe a normal amount but nonetheless, I'm giving my hair a break from weaves.

I have used both but for me Carol's daughter's Elixer worked best. I would moisten and use it as a sealant after a shampoo and DC. I would just use plain old water as a moisturizer. I would then cowash with a diluted solution to prevent buildup and clarify once a month.

I only used Wild Growth out of the 2 for over a year and it worked amazingly for me. I also used Doo-Gro mega thick growth oil in between days I didn't use Wild Growth. Hope this helps Smile

I haven't used either of those...well I've never tried a growth serum/oils before. I have worn weaves though. I've done quick weaves and sew-ins. If either is too tight, it's hell for your edges for sure. I wore a quick weave for almost 3 months and my hair grew 4-5 inches to my bra strap. I did a length check after my hair had been washed, deep conditioned, and detangled. Initially, my eyes were bugging out of my head because a huge amount of hair seemed to be coming out. I know it was hair that had been shed, but geez. The amount of hair was nuts. Nonetheless, there was still growth. With anything that you do to your hair, if you don't do it correctly, there could be damage

I have never used the wild growth or carol's daughter (I recently ordered wild growth, aint get it yet) but I can tell you about weaves. I have done it for 3 years straight, no breaks. I did both sew in weaves and half wigs. I must say my growth was amazing. But I never noticed particular growth in between each re-weaving, I would just notice that my hair was alot longer than it was 4-6 months before. And if you do get your natural hair in a sew in weave, it wont be damaging to your hair if you have it properly moisturized daily and make sure it is not too tight where it can yank out strands.

i have never used either of these products, but if the weave is done right (that is if u wear weaves) u shouldn't have anything to worry about b/c when u wear a weave, ur hair is growing; sometimes it may seem like it speeds up growth.....if the weave is not done right, whether it's too tight, leaves ur hair in knots, whatever, it can cause damage to ur hair~
