Hair Clips Empty Hair Clips

Post by Silkee 26th November 2009, 4:08 pm

Hello Curlies,

I am looking for a place to find cute hair accessories, especially clips. I am fairly new to natural. I did the BC in May and my hair has grown out a bit. It's long enough to add accessories now but I haven't been able to find anything that really works for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I like to pick up accessories from random places. Walmart, Dollar Tree, Target, Walgreens, etc...

If there is an accessory that I see but can't find, I make it.

I was at Walgreens yesterday and they had LOADS of super cute hair accessories!! I'm definitley going back to get my daughter some. They had a bunch of clips, decorted bobbypins, headbands, flower clips, etc.

I would like to find some too that don't cost too much. Everytime I go to Walgreens or Walmart I see some really pretty clips but they're almost, and sometimes more than, $10! I just can't pay that much for 1 or 2 clips...I'm cheap like that lol!

@jamaicacurl, are you talking about the rhinestone looking clips?? If so, I agree. They are too expensive. The flower clips I saw at Walgreens were 3/$10 though.

Oh yeah I know! lol When I went to Sally's I wanted to pick a few up. I looked at the price tag and said out loud "$10-15 DOLLARS?!?!?" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Needless to say, she did not get any of those pretty clips, lol. I will give in soon enough though.

i get a lot of mine from Claires, and those other stores similar to Claires. I am not sure where you live but it may not be a Claires in that area but it may be a similar store.

tiashauntee- how do you make the accessories?

Thanks to everyone. I saw the clips in Walgreens too which are nice. I may grab one or two but they are kind of pricey. I really like the flower clips but haven't found any. Claire's sounds like a good place to look. I will have to check out Dollar Tree too. Thanks for the links too. I scanned thru the forums to see if information was already out there. I guess I didn't look deep enough [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It depends on what I want. But with a hot glue gun and cheap basics, anything can be done. Cheapie headbands and hair clips can be picked up at Walmart or any dollar store. Then you can get your accessories to attach at any craft store or craft section in a store.

cosign on forever 21. I bought my staple flower clips from them a couple weeks ago and a headband that I ended up giving to my little sister - but everything was pretty cheap. so try those quick fashion stores like forever 21, charlotte russe, wet seal, aeropostale, h&m (depending on where you leave of course)...

good luck!

I also like Claires and f21 (catch the buy one get one free deals or Christmas deals are coming up). In California the Farmer's Market are cool places to get hair accessories as well.

Fabric stores are great places to get hair ribbons, bands and accessories to glue on any clip or pin. Making your own is always great because it has you personal touch.

I'm like Tia...I pick up random stuff from Target, Walmart, Claires, and grocery stores, lol. If I find something I like, I'll buy 2 because it's usually gone the next time I go out looking.

OMG! That is one of my biggest fears! I'm also afraid that something is going to happen to me but the paramedics won't be able to get to me because of all the shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers, headbands, flower clips, bobby pins and rollers. LOL!

After I'm done with this experimentation phase I'm going through, I am seriously simplifying!

I wanted to pop in and let you know I saw some really cute stuff at Dots today. I bought my daughter a little rhinestone tiara ($Cool that has the little comb attatchment on the bottom and also a rhinestone headband($4), one of those double headbands. They had some really cute flower clips($3-$4), other headbands($4), and some small/medium rhinestone heart hair clips/bobbypin type things. ($3) Smile

You should check out ROSS: I stopped by their scarves section the other day & right next to it, was an area devoted to a bunch of cute headbands for 2.99. Marshalls & TJMaxx would probably have them too.

They had me singing "I goooot it at Ross..!" all week Cool
