How do you wash Kinky Twists?

I plan on getting kinky twists soon as a protective style but I have no idea how to wash them.

When I had kinky twists I would apply shampoo only to my scalp about once a week and then rinse it out. I would only rinse the actual twists with water and just let the shampoo from my scalp basically "wash" them. I would put an oil sheen-type of spray on them to keep them moisturized about ever other day and would really only wash/rinse them if I was swimming or something (mostly had them during the summer months).
