Looser than expected hair texture?

Growing up, I was told that I had this really thick, nappy hair. My hair is thick, yes, and used to be thicker, but it's not so nappy. Maybe it's not long enough to show it's true curl, but the curl is so loose, that I'm almost disappointed. It's about an inch and half in most places and some of it curls really well, but most of it, not so much. Is this my real hair texture????

first, your hair is beautiful

second, when i first BC'd i definitely had looser parts of my hair that didn't seem to curl or anything...just fuzz that sat there. as it got longer, i was able to see the full shape of the curl/wave pattern and better appreciate it! overall i don't think that my texture changed, but just that the length allowed me to see "all of it" better, if that makes sense...

I think a lot of people's parents exaggerated on how thick or "nappy" their hair was as a child (and used that as an excuse to relax their hair). Many of the women I see now who go natural have a beautiful (well, its all beautiful) texture and find that its not hard to manage at all. All it takes is the right products and a little knowledge on natura hair care. I've been natural all my life and have seen my hair texture change some, but not drastically.

Thanks all... I'm just getting to know my hair, so I guess that whole process is just a little unexpected. I love the softness of my hair and the ease of care, so I'm just going to wait this out, learn to take care of it and enjoy the journey!
