I'm almost at 3 months as well. It actually hasn't been bad at all. My hair is out right now and I'm trying to find a good protective style. My hair is short so my buns look a hot a** mess! I had kinky twists while I was deciding about going natural and my edges suffered cause my braider was tight and I didn't know about the wonders of castor oil at the time. Any protective style ideas?

I also live in Dallas and have been transitioning for 5 months and 1 week. Luckily this severe heat has not affected my hair, but my grass is another story..lol. I have my hair twisted on the sides with a frohawk.Wonderful for the hot weather.

I live in Austin...i have been transitioning for almost six months. I just took my sew in down and tried to do a TNC but on dry hair (did not work to well) looking for different styles to blend my two textures. My hair is very thick which is why I get relaxers to thin it out so the two textures are very noticeable....does anyone have any suggestions on styles?

@ Misst2da2ndthomas - Try the TNC again but on wet hair. That was one of my signature styles during my transition.

@LCnewjourney, before I got my hair put in kinky twists, I would to a flexi rod set. I also tried a bantu knot out but it didn't quite come out the way I wanted it. You can also do braid outs or twists outs. Some people use wigs or half wigs. Can you tell that I do nothing but read about hair all day?

BTW, for those of us that are in Dallas, there is a really good actually great beauty supply in Plano called 3 Sisters Beauty Supply. They carry a lot of products for natural hair.

Oooh, thanks for that tip, missjynnb! I'll have to check that out sometime since I'm no too far from Plano.

BTW, I found a great protective style by adding some puffy screw hair to a bun! I'm excited now that I can protect my ends and not have my hair out all the time.

Also, for those of you that have been transitioning for more than 3 months, does detangling get harder as the time increases? Right now, it's been okay, but I'm just wondering what's in store for me...

I actually live in the Plano area and I've heard good things about that store. My mom has been there a few times and she's gotten a few Mixed Chicks samples. I'm a free sample junkie so this is my kinda store. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I live in the Dallas area as well. I am 11 weeks post relaxer. I am having a hard time finding a good stylist/salon that specializes in natural hair...I have tried doing my own hair a couple of times and it always ends up a hot mess [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . I just need some help getting through this transitioning period until I am ready to BC!

I live in the Dallas area also and I go to Delta Salon which specializes in styling natural hair types. I believe another member from the Dallas area recommended this salon to someone under the 'natural hair salon' section also. Ask for Naylan, she is the best. You will leave the salon very pleased. She is my stylist.

FYI, for the Dallas area girls...

nappyquaila wrote:Hey Ladies,

So it seems like its been forever since we have met
last. If you have any other suggestions feel free to give your input on
locations and times. The location has an indoor patio that we could
reserve for our meetup. Considering its in Plano we could go to 3
sisters afterward and check out natural hair care products. Text me ur
response so that I know how many to plan for 318-510-7671
