Extreme itch Empty Extreme itch

Post by wtfshanee 2nd August 2010, 2:47 pm

Ive been transitioning since March and around June/July my scalp has been dry and itching like crazy. First it was the left side, now it's the right, and it's getting to the point that I have scabs cause it itches soo much. I tried putting tea tree oil and jojoba oil on my scalp but it isnt working. Its a pain to go through the day constantly itching my scalp and have the scabs(i mean thick huge ones) fall onto my shirt. Can someone help or suggest what the problem might be? Thanks.

I would suggest an ACV rinse, but since you have thick huge scabs, I think you should see a dermatologist.

I have seborreheic dermatitis and I go through the same thing...no oils really seem to help me, especially one like jojoba oil which is too light. Jamaican black castor oil is a little better, but I still am experiencing scabs and flakes. I just wash my hair more often, because most of the stuff they give you at the dermatologist has mineral oil and the shampoos are so drying for the hair.

I do cowash regularly, and I thought it could be the buildup of the conditioner so I clarified and itch is still there.

For seborehic dermatitis, isnt it the WHOLE scalp? Cause I have plaque patches, like psoriasis but idk if it is psoriasis. Last night I parted in my hair sections and 1 section was completely clean and non inflamed while the next section over was red, scaly, itchy and blood crusted. I just have no idea whats goin on, but thanks for the sugestions. I will call the derm.

No it doesn't have to be the whole scalp. I can have one side of my head have no flakes and patches and the other side be completely scabby and flaky. Right now, I have this one patch in the back of my head that flakes up and won't go away, and then I have random spots throughout my head. I've been diagnosed with it since I was 11 or 12.

It seems we have the same issue, your symptoms sound exactly like mine and I dealt with it for years. I've been using castor oil w/a few drops of peppermint oil and it has worked wonders for me (I no longer have to check my shoulders every five minutes). I've also changed some of the products that I've been using, so its possible that one of your products is contributing to your scalp issues. So maybe you can try that before you make your derm appointment. I really hope this helps....

I have similar problems. I did notice tat relaxers made it a lot worse..hence my decision to go natural. But whenever I check my scalp it looks fine. A lot of time it can be squeaky clean, no flake...but will itch so bad that i give myself sore spots from scratching. I am making an appt, and hopefully they will tell me something. This started for me in Nov 09...I have tried jojoba oi, coconut oil, tea tree oil, and olive oil....EVOO is the only one that soothes it somewhat. At this point it is truly driving me crazy.

Hey wtfshanee, I just found a post on this blog called The Natural Haven that I found recently, its about scalp issues and honey. I'll probably be trying it next weekend, my scalp doesnt itch anymore with the castor oil, but the honey sounds even better.

Here's the Link to the article:
