How often do you trim?

Every month? Every 3 months? Twice a year? Whenever you feel like it? Which do you think is best?

I would love to know this answer as well. I recently BC'd (well in May) and I am wondering if my hair tangles and knots so much because I need a trim. I will be following this post but have no advice.

Also do you guys do it yourselves? have someone else do it? how do you do it, if done yourself?

I think you should go with how your hair feels and how your ends look. I didn't do my first trim until six months after my bc. I trimmed while my hair was in twists and trimmed the ends. Make sure you get some hair scissors and only use them for trimming your hair.

I dust my ends every now and then if I see any single strand knots. So I am trying to trim only once every six-seven months.

I'm going to with what my hair tells me to do. If my ends go bad so be it I'll trim but other than that I wont do it just to do it. I know some naturals do the 3 month cycle tho.

I usually trim my hair whenever the ends start looking raggedy. I also do S&Ds whenever I feel a single strand knot or see something crazy going on. Overall, I say pay attention to your hair. The more careful you are with your ends, the less you'll need to trim.

I don't think ANYONE eneeds to trim the hairunless it is damaged or there are thin ends that throw off the rest of the hairstyle. (You know how someone has broken off hair so they keep the ends even when it's seethrough? lol)

So unless the hair is split, dry, or damaged I don't think anyone needs to trim. Generally if you take care of your hair you should only need one trim a year.

Look at the Indians. Their hair is soooo long and they don't cut it plus it is not damaged!

The last time I got a trim it was in May. I think she cut too much off. So now I've decided to wait on getting a trim until I feel that my hair really needs it.

I trim my ends when it's needed....I dont trim on a schedule. I didnt trim my ends until 7 months post BC. Then I trimmed again about 4 months later because of an abundance of single strand knots.

I'm glad you guys agree with me that hair only needs trimming when its damaged. I don't see the point of just cutting off perfectly healthy hair and losing length for no reason. I feel a lot better now
