Post by LovingLife 24th July 2010, 10:46 pm

I know most of the ladies on here don't straighten their hair. However I am a new transitioner (6 mo. =]=]) and I like wearing my hair straight..BUT i dont want to use heat on it. I dont want to damage my hair before it even grows out!! Any of you ladies know a great way to straighten hair without using heat?? or as little heat as possible. videos, pictures, or just a list of steps would be SO APPRECIATED!!!! thanks!

Try Curlformers. You can buy the kit at Sally's. They will "smooth" and blend your natural hair into your relaxed hair, without heat but with curls. Here is the link to the You Tube video: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=curlformers+on+natural+hair&aq

Do you know a way to straighten my hair, like, bone straight, no curls or anything? to get the same affect that i would by using a flat iron? I want to be able to wear my my hair down and straight without heat.

Sorry, I do not know a way to bone straight hair without heat. Maybe the other ladies on here or You Tube videos will have some suggestions for you.

I don't remember who it was but someone used the Saran Wrap method. Basically by using a hood dryer and some saran wrap they got straight hair. It's some heat but not the direct searing heat of an iron. Try looking it up on Youtube.

I've also heard of the Saran Wrap method... If you search for "silk wrap" on YouTube, you can watch some videos about it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Mahogany Curls has a video on You Tube doing the Silk Wrap. That the straightest I've seen natural hair without using direct heat (i.e. flat iron)
