alright ladies! nubie turned me on to this challenge.... i've never even ventured into this forum before... as i mentioned to her everytime i start to grow out my nails they break. i work in the hospitality industry and my hands are constantly in water.. so hopefully this challenge will help me protect them better and grow them out! here are my starting pics. these are no polish, not manicured shots.

i have to leave for work in a little bit but when i come home i'll do them then. i just picked up a new color! i'm going to try to do them at least once a week. how do you guys keep your polish from chipping?

chipping for my nails are pretty much inevitable but i do my base coat of clear, 2 coats of polish and another top coat of clear.

i didnt do it for my left hand as much as my right n its chippin already on the ends

This thread is awesome. I stopped wearing overlays about 8 or 9 months ago, and have been taking care of my nails. I am finally able to grow them thick and maintain them. I recently bought a nail polish set. Here are some my first designs.

@ Xtremely Welcome and glad to have you !!! to keep my nails from chipping I use a base coat mostly a strengthener base and two coats of polish then two coats of top coat , not clear TOP COAT and try to get like a professional top coat, those tend to help the manicure last longer. and wear gloves whenever you can , even when washing dishes .

Sorry I have not been here lately I can't upload my pictures on the computer ever since I upgraded from windows vista to windows 7 it really screwed up my computer and now I can't get my pictures off my camera onto my computer ! ugh... my nails literallly started chipping like 2 hrs after i finished them and yesterday at work they were destroyed haha. So i took off the polish and started again with a new green polish. But i think my problem is i put the polish on too thick so I tried to make thin layers but now the color is opaque... not the deep green on the bottle. Sigh. I'm gonna focus on growing my nails out now and nail color later haha.

Nubie u can use the small bottles of craft paint to do designs that's what i use. Its cheap and u can mix colors to get custom looks

well laydeez, i cut my nails down...ALL of em! anytime they get too long they start to split above the tips which pisses me off cuz then it snags my hair it never fails. im gonna file em down more n just put a plain top coat on em for now. **sigh**
