Re: jamaicacurl
I know there's a picture right in front of my face but somehow I just don't believe you!!! All you used was a comb?!? IT'S GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! Wowjamaicacurl wrote:Ok here's my hair from yesterday. Note that it looked a lot better in my head when I was thinking about it but it didn't come out too bad. My hair was also nice and smooth and shiny due to the oil rinse I did with EVOO before hand.
This is simply done with a comb and very wet hair. You section the hair, place the comb in the section by the root, twirl the comb around to twist the hair as you pull downward at the same time.
Today I did a similar style except I put the top 1/3 in a pony tail and did the curls coming out of the ponytail as well as the hair underneath.

LOL! Thank you! I promise I just used a comb. This is something my mom used to do to my hair when I was younger. She'd put it in 1 or 2 ponytails and do these twirls in the ponytails. It's sooo easy! No curling iron needed!

That is gorgeous JC just gorgeous!
I don't think I could do it. My hair would get tangled in the comb. You know what though, I am gonna try after a good detangling, LOL!

thanks Chrs! Yes it may take some practice. I've found that I can only twist in one direction without getting all tangled. I've also tried using a fine tooth comb which proved to be a big no no! Lol!
Re: jamaicacurl
Wow ur "comb twists" look gorgeous!!! I did that once when my hair was shorter and it turned out ok...hmm maybe I'll give it another go

Re: jamaicacurl
So after my recent discovery about CO not making my hair crunchy, I've been putting it in my hair before applying gel everyday since then. I'm really feelin' the results! Literally, I can't stop touching my hair
Re: jamaicacurl
Whew! I was so behind on your thread!
- Loved the vacay pics....beautiful family!! I need a vacation...sigh
- Cute headband you made!
- Those comb twists were FABULOUS!!! Very pretty!!
- I'm glad to hear the CO is working for you. I recently purchase unrefined CO and I have to get use to the smell . I usually purchase the refined CO...it has a faint smell.
- I have that some too but I will not be trying to swirl it near Roxie. She doesnt like when I use it the intended way. LOL!!

Thanks Lynnie, Sweet and IB!
Whew I've been crocheting so much that I've been neglecting my hair page. Let's see, what's new?....I am still using coconut oil daily with good results. Yesterday I added some honey to my conditioner for added shine but I couldn't really tell. I would have to use it without the coconut oil to see. Today is a lazy day...not sure what the hair plans are yet.

Re: jamaicacurl
I'm glad you said something JCan because I had no idea the Curl Street Journal was/has started lol!
Yesterday I tried something new: no leave-in. Instead I used coconut oil and HE TT mousse. Hair came out soo shiny and defined! But I think I put in a little too much oil because some sections were a bit stringy. Today I did the same with less oil so we'll see how it looks in a few hours.

Beautiful comb curls. You need to do a tutorial. I saw the CO in the grocery store yesterday and didn't get it but I think I might this week.

Re: jamaicacurl
So since I don't do a whole lot of different things to my hair, there's not much to report. I did put my hair in a twisted up bun today though. It was a very rainy day & I didn't want to do my regular wng and risk looking like a wet poodle later in the day. I will post a pic of the bun later.
But for now I'd like to list my tried and true products. These are items that I've been consistently buying and using with promising results:
Suave coconut conditioner (co wash)
Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition conditioner (rinse out & as leave in)
GVP Conditioning Balm (great heavy moisturizing conditioner)
EVOO (great for/in DT and adding to GF for rinse out)
Coconut oil (great mixed with EVOO for DT with heat, use over leave in before applying styler)
Elasta QP Feels Like Silk styling gel (it does what it says without the crunch, unless I use too much)
I follow the CG method as much as I can by not using products with sulfates or silicones. I also avoid the bad alcohols and mineral oil. I've learned over time that less is more and to keep it simple. It wasn't always easy since I can be a bit of a PJ
My downfall though is that I'm not as consistent as I used to be as far as doing DT's and protein treatments regularly. I'm hoping to get back on it soon.
Lately I've been getting some flakiness just on certain spots on my scalp that I think may be a result of conditioner build up. So I am now using less to see if that's the case.

Oh I forgot to add apple cider vinegar rinses and adding honey to my conditioner to my list.
