Have you thought about not plopping? Here is what I think. If you do not plop your whole head, you may see tighter curls at the ends. You could try a diffuser at your roots to plump up the volume and dry it. Do you plop with your head down and kinda loosely place curls in center of material you use to plop? Are curls more defined from root to tip when wet?
Do you scrunch in your products at the ends of your hair before or after plopping? Try the opposite of what you are doing.
I took your advice Chrs and did not plop this morning. I do notice that my curls are a bit more defined before I plop. After plopping some curls are more defined and some seem to get stretched out. I do gather all the hair to the center of the flour sack when I plop.
I've tried using a diffuser a number of times and always end up with a lot of frizz. So I don't know if my technique is wrong or if it's just not for me but I've given up on that.
I typically scrunch in my product before I plop. Yesterday I did it after plopping.
So here's what I did today: Wet hair and conditioned. Applied more conditioner for leave in. Scrunched out excess water from ends with flour sack. Scrunched in a dime sized amound of Elasta Gel to the ends only. Let air dry.
The results don't look drastically different from yesterday but I do think my curls/waves are a bit more defined...?
It is also a rainy day today.

Thanks ladies !
I forgot to mention that the baking soda and ACV treatment really helped my scalp out a lot!!!! No flaking, no itching! Aaaaah....
I co-washed this morning and going to let it airdry in a pony tail. Tonight I'm going to straighten it! I'm a bit excited to see how long it's gotten. Gosh it's been 6 months since I've straightened it! I hope I remember how to do it! Feels so strange to me since I used to do it every week!

Re: jamaicacurl
Alright I was too tired to do my hair last night but I did it this morning....again I wish I had more volume! LOL
Anywho, it has grown quite a bit since July!
I'm supposed to be leaving for NJ today but we are going to be getting about 3" of snow here in ATL today! Not sure what that means for my flight but we shall see.....

Look at the long beautiful hair!
I think a roller set or some pin curls would give you more volume. Have you ever tried those techniques?

Thank you Tia! I have tried roller sets before but not pin curls. Roller sets def do give me volume but it just takes so much time!!
Also I straightened it today with my flat iron but I'm taking my curling iron with me so I can give it some volume with a few curls tomorrow.
Re: jamaicacurl
You could also just put big rollers on the top section and wrap the bottom section. That will give it volume with out heat. It also gives it a somewhat layered effect even though you don't have any.
